Yeah, that is true. However, I was referring to the heavyweight division. Usyk is currently, the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and typically the Heavyweight champion is often considered the face of boxing. Historically, it has been the most glamorous and prestigious division in all of the sport of boxingComment

Go back at watch Oscar interviews right after Madrimov - he did not think he was a beast; it was all tongue in cheek-, mockingly calling him "THE BEAST" - he was only characterizing him like that because he was competitive with Crawford and was being overhyped. He was happy to play along with that narrative, and now says "look at how easy Vergil handled that beast.", all while trying to fight off a smirk.
Good win for Vergil's overall career to get back on track, but that's it. He's only just back on track with those wins, it's nothing big.
Anyway, I'm interpreting this headline like they must think Murt is the real deal as opposed to Madrimov.Last edited by LA_2_Vegas; 04-12-2025, 04:03 PM.Comment

Badou Jack once fought Anthony Dirrell, George Groves, Lucian Bute, James DeGale, Nathan Cleverly, Adonis Stevenson, Marcus Browne, and Jean Pascal consecutively.
Naoya Inoue fought Jamie McDonnell, Juan Carlos Payano, Emmanuel Rodriguez, Nonito Donaire, and Jason Moloney consecutively. Then he had to take some lesser fights in the COVID bubble, but then came back with Nonito Donaire, Paul Butler, Stephen Fulton, Marlon Tapales, Luis Nery, and TJ Doheny.
Floyd Mayweather fought Arturo Gatti, Sharmba Mitchell, Zab Judah, Carlos Baldomir, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, (fake retirement/unretirement), Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Cotto, Robert Guerrero, Canelo Alvarez, Marcos Maidana twice, Manny Pacquiao, and then Andre Berto consecutively. At a previous point in his career he fought Diego Corrales, Carlos Hernandez, Jesus Chavez, and Jose Luis Castillo twice consecutively.
Pacquiao finished his career on a consecutive run of Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Tim Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Brandon Rios, Tim Bradley, Chris Algieri, Floyd Mayweather, Tim Bradley, Jessie Vargas, Jeff Horn, Lucas Matthysse, Adrien Broner, Keith Thurman, and Yordenis Ugas.
My point? Shut up and take the big fights when they come your way.Comment
