So this guy who has never won a world title ever is turning down a title shot because he’s risking burn out?? Weren’t they just the ones calling Boots a duck for wanting to unify at 147 yet now him turning down a title shot is best for long term business? Ok

Oacar’s honest about matchmaking and understands how it works. Respect to him:

“I don’t like that [Murtazaliev] fight. Not coming off Bohachuk, not coming off Madrimov,” De La Hoya said. “In boxing, there’s rules. If you want to take care of a fighter and not have him burn out, you don’t put him up against a beast, a beast, a beast. You burn out the fighters. So I don’t like the fight.”

I believe we’ll get Oacar’s Nephew Vergil VS Artur’s Cousin Bakhram in Q4 2025 at the earliest

I have to say I'm with fishnets on this one, Ortiz had the rhabdo for ages then took hard b2b fights with bohachuk and madrimov. Give him a slick counterpuncher or something next or at least wait until a bit later in the year for the bakram fight.

Nothing wrong with that. Even with his illness, Ortiz has been more active than Dud Crawford. Dud wouldn’t dare take on those three in that short time span. So why rush Ortiz?

so the rule is max 2 tough fights in a row

There is no rule man, its just my opinion Ortiz had a hell of a few years with the illness, has gone through two wars and should prob rest a bit or take a fight against a mover/counterpuncher for a different style.

No one is saying Ortiz shouldn't take a couple months off. But what he shouldn't do is have a light touch like his first two 154lb bouts. Josh Kelly would fit your description.

No such rule Oscar. What it probably is, is smart.A soft touch would help to extend Vergil's career. But don't go spouting off about the "best fighting the best " Lol
And isn't Vergil considered a "beast" ? Not a good look to openly run from smoke.
