Comments Thread For: Appeal lodged with IBF as Paddy Donovan's attorney claims disqualification was unjust

He was the better fighter and should have won, but it wasn't anyone else that cost him. It was his own lack of control.
He's going for the finish, the bell rings, the opponent stops moving and he ****s him out.
Sorry, but it's just a lesson learned that you can't win like that.
As for the ref, you can't just keep deducting points. At some point you have to DQ. It just is what it is. Pretty straightforward decision.

I do not think it was intentional. I do, however, 100% believe he lost control of his emotions and those punches were way late. Ref did the proper thing, and the IBF should uphold the DQ. It is the IBF though, so throw the dart at the board and best guess if they will do something right.

Donovan already had been docked twice, although for different infractions. The final punch was clearly initiated after the bell. The attorney is just making noise. If we don't go in and change Gervonta Davis taking a knee without a penalty, and that made a difference between a loss and a draw, I don't see how Donovan gets that call reversed after the fact. Some things are not negotiable in boxing. Take a knee, it's a knockdown; hit a defenseless man after the bell, and he is unresponsive, it's a DQ.

Plus the arena was loud as fugh , they beat the record for loudness in that building so he might never have heard that bell and that to me makes his case a valid one
Just sayin’

He was greedy for the KO and took a gamble. If I was the ref would I DQ him ? Idk. I would probably take a point but the man was on the canvas after the punch. That's not a good look.
