Well, that hasn't happened in this case, and likely won't, because Canelo will never face Benavidez, and Saul is the older man, so he can't possibly age out David. And I've never accused Bivol of being afraid to fight anyone.

Why offer Canelo a catchweight? Bivol is the undisputed LHW champ, and Canelo lost to him @ LHW.

Yeah, Bivol declined, because Alvarez wanted the rematch @175 on the SAME terms as the first fight! Now, why would the winner of the first fight accept the same terms as if he were still the challenger in the rematch? And as you say, "boss moved on after that" offer to fight @ 168 because he knows Bivol has his number, and he doesn't want to lose his undisputed SMW status. After he lost to Dmitri, Saul swore that a rematch was his #1 priority. But we know that wasn't really true, don't we?

Making Benavidez fight is tricky. He could get beat by Alvarez from 2H 2025 to 1H 2026

or he beats Alvarez

Either way I see Alvarez-Benavidez fight being competitive and lucrative to justify a rematch
