As a fan that saw Bivol beating Beter twice now I would prefer to watch Bivol-Benavidez next ,watch Benny gets his ass handed to him in great fashion lol.

Comments Thread For: Dmitry Bivol-David Benavidez should be next, not Artur Beterbiev trilogy

Beating David Morrell Junior is not a high enough level win 'For people to start demanding Benavidez vs Bivol next. Callum Smith has just achieved a higher level win at 175 pounds, than Morrell Junior. Callum Smith vs Joshua Buasti was a higher level fight than Benavidez vs Morrell Junior. The latter fight was essentially not much higher than a domestic level American fight'.
I stated before Saturday night 'That the winner of Callum Smith vs Joshua Buasti, should fight David Benavidez. The victor of that fight, should then be next in line to fight for the 175 pound titles'.
There is a high likely-hood, and a even bigger demand for Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol III 'Than ether Smith or Benavidez vs Dmitry Bivol. So in my opinion if? Artur Beterbiev decides that he wants to fight Dmitry Bivol for the third time, then Callum Smith vs David Benavidez has to happen'.
Note: I honestly don't think ether David Benavidez or Callum Smith can truly claim that they should fight for a World title next 'David Benavidez was not a Champion moving up into the 175 pound division, he was former Champion and contender at 168 pounds. When Benavidez beat Morrell Junior, it was not a 175 pound coronation. It was just a solid win for Benavidez, in a fight not much higher than a domestic level American fight. Those are the objective facts. But certain folk in the boxing community, were treating David Benavidez's arrival in the 175 pound division, similar to Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao moving up into the Welter Weight Divisions. It was a move and an invasion nowhere near to that level'.
To conclude: Therefore, it makes completely sense to me for Callum Smith vs David Benavidez to fight next 'The only way this fight does not happen, is if the trilogy fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmirty Bivol III does not happen. Canelo Alvarez's future moves could still involve a 175 pound fight, so that is another factor to seriously consider which would affect the career trajectory of both Callum Smith and David Benavidez'.
I think people need to put David Benavidez as a fighter into perspective, he was a contender at 168 pounds and he is a contender at 175 pounds 'He has had two fights at 175 pounds. In those two fights, he has been unable to achieve a knockout. But the narrative being pushed by certain sections of the boxing media, is that he is some sort of monster fighter at the level of Mike Tyson, Sonny Liston, George Foreman'.
David Benavidez at 175 pounds still has to achieve a higher level win, in order to fight for a World title 'Callum Smith vs David Benavidez would be that standard of fight' etc.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; 02-24-2025, 12:41 PM.

a trilogy is not needed right away... let them meet for a 3rd time later down the road. i think a 3rd fight will take too much out of both fighters and i dont wanna see them waste their prime by fighting each other. there's better match out there for both guys than a 3rd fight at the moment.

beterbiev will not beat bivol in a 3rd fight if they fight again next.. it's best to let bivol fight someone else first and hope bivol lose a step or 2 from that fight..
if they do the 3rd fight right away, it will be a waste of time since bivol will just win again and will make it look even more easier this time.

BUT, it is time to accept that Beterbiev lost - probably twice now.
During the fight yesterday, Sky Sports were publishing the fan score and it was in Bivol's favour all the way, I believe 3 points at the end and 4 points after round 11. I know die hard Beterbiev fans will never accept this but majority of fans and commentators agree on this.
There is no controversy. Bivol is just better. Time to accept it and move on. Bring on another challenger - Benavidez deserves the first dibbs.
60% of people voted Bivol despite Artur finishing 1 stronger and getting that decision

stop it.. in that case, a rematch is not needed then if beterbiev is that old.. let them both fight some one else first then do the trilogy at the end of the year or early 2026.

Whether it’s the first half or the second half Bivol always does a 5 rounds sweep when facing Artur. In fight 1 it was 1 through 5, in 2 it was 7 through 11
Fight 1 Bivol 7-5
Fight 2 Bivol 8-4
Fight 3 Bivol 9-3/10-2 if he uses tactical clinching to stuff Artur offensively

As much as I would not mind seeing a trilogy, I cannot see Beterbiev doing anything different to pull out a win. He would be almost 42 in a rematch and if anything would surely slow down. I think Beneviedez would be a better fight although I do not think he has enough power to keep Bivol honest.
In a perfect world, I would love to see Bivol vs Beneviedez this fall and the winner fight Canelo next May. Put them all on the same card in September...Canelo vs Crawford and Bivol vs Beneviedez.

so if they instaRematch [which he deserves] he’d still be 40
If I was matchmaking for Bivol
Beat Artur For 3rd time in Nov
Beat An Easy Mando in Spring 2026
Beat Benavidez in Q4 2026
give the body and mind time to recover between tough fights
