    Madrimov vs Ortiz jr

Who have you got winning this one??

Madrimov reminds me of Golovkin a bit,the preformance against Crawford was great but is he just hype?? Was it the weight that was a problem for Crawford coupled with age or is Madrimov really as good as he looked.

I'm not the most educated on Ortiz jr but from what I've seen from both i have Madrimov winning.

Hopefully some can break down how they think the fights plays out in text..

I think Madrimov is going to be a difficult puzzle for Ortiz to solve. I think Ortiz is going to have a hard time finding the target and he's going to get countered HARD. It might be his best bet to just bum rush Madrimov and try to hurt him quickly...BUT that is VERY risky!

I have Ortiz stopping him late.

Madrimov is good, superb athlete but he has gone from somewhat unknown/one of boxings best kept secrets to very overrated based on nothing other than a staring contest with Crawford. Crawford flattered him imo being too conservative and respectful. I think he was maybe a touch uncertain at the new weight.
Ortiz has become underrated due to having a tear up with a much bigger, skilled puncher. That Bohachuk guy is no joke, sure he caught an L on the way up but that is a bad dude.

I see Madrimovs lack of a jab, punch output and very questionable stamina being his downfall. I've seen him tire in several fights fighting at a snails pace, I don't see him living with the intensity Ortiz brings. I do not see Ortiz giving him any damn respect nevermind too much like Crawford did.

From what I seen vs Bud , imo Madrimov gets the better of Ortiz

Ortiz jr. should win. Madrimov is not so good, he has no jab and his work rate is poor. Nowhere near GGG lol.. Crawford struggled, because Crawford' s real limit was 147. If Ortiz jr. is the real deal at 154, he should win.

Yeah hes not the caliber of GGG but he certainly reminds me of GGG when closing the distance with certain moves

His leaping left hook is thrown in a very similar motion to Gennady's

Madrimov also has a very good overhand and straight right

I'm fairly high on both, TBH. One of the interesting things about Bud v Madrimov is that Madrimov didn't fight his usual style. That shows he's got the IQ and skill and ability to stick to a gameplan that's not his usual approach. If you haven't been following him from earlier in his career, when he was a contender he was known for the ability to switch stance fluidly in the middle of a combo (which, by the way, is quite hard to do and takes a lot of practice). So he's a switch hitter like Bud or Ennis. I didn't like how low his output was vs Bud, and Ortiz can crack too, and that's bad for his chances if it goes to the cards, but he's not necessarily limited to that. He's got good power too, and can hurt people with one punch.

Ortiz also has good skills, takes angles, and plenty of power, and high work rate and pressure, plenty of grit.

I think Madrimov virtually has to fight on the outside vs Ortiz due to Ortiz' style. Not really a good idea to just slug it out with Ortiz unless you're Bohachuk and really comfortable with his style because you've sparred a lot together, and tough as nails to boot.

-edit- I didn't realize that these two have done 20 rounds with each other. This is gonna be a great fight from the first round.

Madrimov is tricky, so I think we'll see Ortiz following him around a lot and getting stymied by feints. But, if Madrimov didn't learn from the Bud fight and up his output, Ortiz could still bank rounds just by forcing the action. I wouldn't be surprised to see Madrimov drop Ortiz, because the latter gets out of balance. I don't know how Madrimov's chin is, but I'm inclined to think it's good because Crawford couldn't hurt him and I don't think he's ever been dropped. I would recommend watching his first fight vs Michel Soro and his fight vs Kurbanov to get a bit more of an idea about how he operates.

I think I lean slightly towards Ortiz getting a decision despite a flash knockdown just due to pressure and work rate, but if Madrimov ups his output and throws more punches in combination as you'll see from many of his other fights, he could pull it out. 154 is absolutely stacked, what with these two, Bohachuk, Murtazaliev, not to mention Bud and Fundora, maybe Tszyu if he can come back from that beating, or Mell Charlo if he ever wants to fight again. And Ennis will be moving up fairly soon too. I think it might be the most talented division in the sport at the moment.

I still think Ortiz would put Bud on a stretcher but Madrimov learnt a lot against Bud. I think he was too green.
