That his jab could defend him, because like 90% of the division, is power would give him an escape. When it didn't he had no other skills to use... It is symptomatic of a training environment where the subtle skills are being lost, guys are being sheltered, and unprepared, because they are being trained in an amateur style... Then they are thrown to the wolves.

Things would be different if Jarod fought Bakole two years ago... (or some other time in the past), was fighting at least twice a year, and learning while losing... But he is too far along and I believe this lost was devastating to him.
    Devastating is right
The cat is out of the bag now
Yup maybe your right about his chin and yes he has horrendous foot work and not knowing how to clinch made him even more vulnerable

The problem here is: He is NOT ALONE! And... If he was trained properly, even losing fights, he has talent. The whole division operates the way of Jared. Another example? A guy who I fell in love with , big, strong, great feet, great instincts... Wardley. I went to watch his fight with Clark (the first one) and wanted to cry... He came in a whale, and in love with his punch. All the great things he did lost... It feels like Bizzaro land. I mean we are watching guys gas out in 12 round fights, sometimes before the 6th round, using basic one two combos, no defensive skills, no footwork. Looking for big fights. We really need the new talent coming up to form a vanguard. Bakole, Ituema, even Torres... and we need these guys to fight and learn how to operate using the toolbox of a bona fide professional, in shape, fighter.

My money is on Justis Huni and Teremoana Jr making the leap but they need to be tested now.

None of this feeding them chumps and protecting their 0 bullshït.

Pollywog it is truly a disservice to a fighter to protect him/her. This principle operates far and wide... When I started martial arts in the late seventies? before there were laws against child abuse? The first thing my teacher did was beat me up... then when I was ****** enough to come back he taught me ONE technique to start... When i learned to use that technique and prevent the beating? I was ready to commence training.

My point being: I became very good because I was not protected... So I have a lot of empathy when I see these young guys, like you mention and hope for the best... There is a big difference "throwing one to the wolves" as a pup (Wolves generally will not kill pups learning about the heirarchy) and waiting til one should have learned and putting them into the thick of the wolves... You certainly get this, a lot of people do not seem to get it. I honestly believe that if Jared Anderson had fought Bakole when still coming up and lost, he could have made it a positive experience... Bakole was not particularly old when he learned to make adjustments (Michael Hunter fight).
