I hear you. I just don't know that many people willing to go into an event like that on a short notice willing to lose that much money and KNOWING they will lose it. Bob Arum was playing a long game with BUD hoping to build him into a ppv star and recoup his initial losses. It never happened and the relationship disintegrated.

Precisely. The way so-called boxing fans hate on boxers, it really makes you don't want to be part of this culture. I am no fan of Haney (in fact, I think that Loma beat him), but Haney is a proven warrior. Yeah, the lawsuit is maybe not the best way to deal with the situation with Garcia, but I would be crazy angry if I knew I fought an opponent on roids; that kind of difference can end up in harming you for life or even in death. It's like these haters are oblivious about the nature of boxing, its history, and how it is a hard, hard sport. You see the same kind of bs with those who have expressed no compassion towards Donald Curry. If these are adults, I hope they somehow learn that that kind of dog-eat-dog, unethical vision is what's destroying our world.

There are many insiders, boxers, former boxers, etc. who agree with my very basic point. Obviously, peds are all over boxing, but in this particular context we know that Garcia cheated in a way that Haney did not.

And btw I've been following the sport since the late 80s; I love its complicated history of violence, corruption, warriors, and anti-heros, and have mad respect for how boxers put their life on the line every time they enter the rign.
