Like I said on the first page, I expect an extremely CLOSE fight (like Bivol vs. Beterbiev i.e. boxer vs. puncher) and narrow points victory for Benavidez based on his work rate, high punch volume and constant pressure which will ultimately sway the judges. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Morrell manages to pull off the upset either but rule out a knockout victory for either fighter (but NOT knockdowns).
This is a mouth-watering clash and expect FIREWORKS given the massive egos, bad blood plus the fact that both guys '0' is on the line!Comment

Gallegos isn't as skilled nor experienced as Benavidez, but he has a reach advantage and is a big puncher despite being a volume fighter so I can't say DB will have the same success compared to him in a sparring session instead of a pro bout where Morrell will be better prepared for whatever he needs to handle.
But I keep thinking that Benavidez will pull the win and do so more decidedly than plenty are expecting. Having pro experience against experienced stylists like Andrade, Gvozdyk and Plant plus the sparring had he gotten recently with Andre Dirrell and some unknown Cuban sparring partners to prepare in this match up.
Might be wrong though since Morrell has impressive qualities such as his athleticism and outstanding punching power plus his illusive style, but nevertheless excited for the bout and may the better fighter win.Last edited by Malvado; 01-30-2025, 07:20 PM.Comment

Sparring is sparring so it shouldn't be applied to a pro fight and neither team should be stating what happened. But still surprised that Gallegos got the better of Morrell in sparring after his upset against Khalil Coe. Seen a clip 12-13 days ago in channel called boxing MX which can be biased towards Meņos, so wasn't sure how much I should read much into it, but wasn't expecting that there was exact knockout which hasn't been denied by DM's team.

He just turned 37, the same age at the number 1 p4p fighter right now. He has low mileage with only 20 fights, and had 3 tune ups in 12 months.Comment
