Personally I’d prefer that they fight but understand wanting to unify. If he doesn’t unify next and passed on Ortiz, it will look really bad.
Here’s what Stanionis thinks of fighting boots but then total silence as usual

Exactly bro. It’s the talking out of both sides of their mouths. They are literally out here fooling people with that talk. It’s pretending you want big fights. He got a big fight but now he don’t want it? lol. Like I said I’m old. I’ve seen this before. Bootsy is a fraud. If wasn’t…he wouldn’t be. It’s that simple.will be 28 years old in June will be 32 fights deep and never had a serious opponent. No elite fighter or all time great in history ever has gone this route but you want to believe boots is the one fighter that one guy? Thats on you lol

Still early to claim he’s a fraud. Let his career play out more. See if he does unify at 147. Still a good chance he goes to 154 this year and fights Ortiz and if he does, a good chance he beats Ortiz too. Weird to jump the gun with someone that’s 27 yrs old and already claim you know their career trajectory.

Bro he’s 28 in June. And what exactly does unifying 147 prove at this point? Barrios is #1 target. Barrios. Who’s been ktfo by a LW and beat thoroughly by semi retired part time Keith Thurman. Then you have Norman jr who’s 22 and is pretty unknown still. Lastly and most appealing there is stannois. I will mortgage my homes to bet you he doesn’t fight stannois next or within 6 months. Also NONE of those fights is as appealing, competitive, or in demand as the Ortiz fight. None of the other 3 champions is really an appealing fight at all compared to anyone at 154. So like im trying to point out to you. Can you name ONE fighter who has gone such a risk averse route and been considered anything other than a hype job fraud? Like cmon man lol. Don’t tell me poop smell like roses. You can believe it if you want you’ll be more embarrassed in the end

And what does beating Ortiz do? You may not know this, but winning titles always trumps beating a guy who has never held a title. Especially when that guy is coming off a fight that many thought he lost. You like to claim hypothetical situations as fact and that’s not how things go. You want your stance on boots not throwing Oscar off to be considered fact. You want boots being a fraud and having a career that will amount to nothing as fact. You want to believe that beating a 0 time champ is more meaningful than unifying titles. Your opinions and hopes don’t make anything a fact. Stop acting like you’re the Nostradamus of boxing. Let shyt play out.

Unifying 147 is a joke. It’s a pathetic weight class atm all the big dogs are at 154. Like I keep saying you do you but when the yokes on your face just be man enough to admit it

Unifying titles is never a joke. Passing on that to fight a 0 time champ who arguably lost his last fight is bad business.

Kids today? I am probably older than you. I am watching boxing since the 80s. Oscar is an overrated fighter. Lost all his big fights and the names he won they were past prime or he was gifted the decisions. Whittaker, Forbes, Sturm, Quartey, etc. Oscar was a very limited fighter. I was asked how I believe Boots would beat Oscar and I gave my opinion based on my experience. I knew of Oscar and Byrd from Barcelona olympics and followed their careers.

Oscar is a converted orthodox fighter who is limited like Cotto and Hatton. Oscar and Coffo both have good jabs because they jab from their power hand, but nothing really comes behind their jab naturally/instinctively, so they are easily read by fighters with good boxing IQ.

I need to hear how you think Oscar will beat Boots?
