Logic dictates that we're rapidly closing in on the end of the current heavyweight era, as each of Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder edge towards middle age. But might we still be talking about them this time next year?

I still have a funny feeling we will get Wilder v Joshua and Fury v Joshua. They've all really got no reason to fight anyone but themselves.

But I think this era is completed by December next year.

Usyk could fight twice but there'd be no reason to continue beyond that. He certainly doesn't need to fight the other three and I can't see why he'd go with a mandatory if he fights the winner of Dubious and Parker. He'll fight the winner then maybe a farewell fight.

I'll predict the belts will all be wrapped around new names by Christmas next year.

I believe that Wilder just may announce his retirement in 2025. If not then he has to find away to bring Mark Breland back into the fold because Malik Scott is the lousiest trainer in Heavyweight boxing history.

Wilder is no longer into boxing...especially mentally and perhaps physically too. Usyk will fight if he can make meaningful and lucrative fights (say, the winner of Parker vs Dubois) or defend his title (winner of Zhang vs Kabayel) or whoever is next in line. He may fight for his year and unify again before retiring, that is if he wants to. One thing about retirement is that these people have nothing else to do and nowhere to go so retirement might mean losing motivation in life. The smart ones plan for life after retirement but others continue pushing for more fights.

Fury and Joshua will probably fight once or twice more and see how they compare to the rest of the competition and what is the way forward for them. If Usyk were to give up the belts, both AJ and Fury would have the motivation to fight some lower opposition and get that title and then defend it against lesser opposition like we had before Covid. It will also depend if they remain crowd pullers after their respective defeats unless they are in competitive fights because low paydays may also accelerate their decisions.

The HW division still has a few known names but many of them are not so active. Otherwise, we could be seeing some known HW fighting every 2-4 weeks. List of some less active fighters that should fight more often:

            1. Martin Bakole (last fought on August 3, 2024) has no fight planned. I know only 4 months but should have a fight announced if he wants to fight twice a year.
            2. Filip Hrgovic (last fought on June 1, 2024) has no fight planned
            3. Efe Ajagba (last fought on April 13, 2024) has no fight planned
            4. Michael Hunter (last fought on June 7, 2024) has no fight planned and hasn't been in any meaningful fight since 2019.
            5. Frank Sanchez (last fought on May 18, 2024) has no fight planned
            6. Jaren Anderson (last fought on August 3, 2024) has no fight planned. I know only 4 months but should have a fight announced if he wants to fight twice a year.
            7. Jarrell Miller (last fought on August 3, 2024) has no fight planned. I know only 4 months but should have a fight announced if he wants to fight twice a year.
            8. Joe Joyce (last fought on June 27, 2024) has no fight planned. Not sure if he plans to carry on but if he does, he doesn't have much time to waste.
            9. Andy Ruiz Jr (last fought on August 3, 2024) has no fight planned. One of the laziest and most ill-planned boxers since his win against AJ.
            10. Deontay Wilder (last fought on June 1, 2024) has no fight planned. Should get rid of Malick and go join someone else's gym where there are several hungry young fighters.
            11. Bakhodir Jalolov (last fought on November 17, 2023) has no fight planned. I know he went to the Olympics but that **** has been over since August. Why waste your prime years in boxing?

Most of all Wilder since he has all the proof that Zhang cheated. Having muscle relaxants in his gloves and paying Malik to put egg weights in his water bottle. Your king is in good spirits and will rice like a cleenex from the a$s.

His chin has been shot his whole career. Took a big punch against Whyte and then had to sit out the next few rounds to recover. I think Usyk and Fury will def be gone by end of year (both aging fast). Joshua boxed so poorly agaisnt Dubois he actually has a good chance to come back. But whether he can do it or not is another thing. It seems more mental with him.

Wilder could come back too. I see him a bit like Joshua - hasn't done the right things in recent fights, could fix that.
