Comments Thread For: David Benavidez has theory on why Canelo Alvarez turned down insane offer to face him

Canelo dodged both David's n the organizations let it slide by not stripping canelo of his titles mandatory should mean right away if not the real belt goes to David by default. Canelo knows he can't bully benavidez whos stronger n bigger with power n morrell is too athetic with size as well

I don't think Canelo is afraid to fight David, per se or vice versa. They are males, but I also believe that for Canelo it makes more economic sense to fight other people and make a ton of money rather than run the risk of being defeated by a much bigger and much younger talent for marginally more money than he would make fighting you or me. That to me at least explains why Saul has demanded a 1/4 of a billion dollars to fight Benavidez. I also understand that Canelo knows he is a walking multi-million dollar enterprise that employs lots of folks when he fights and generates millions for others. This is not just about two guys getting in the ring and throwing punches, it is also about sustaining long-term profits. I didn't criticize Mayweather when folks were blasting him for not fighting Pacquiao when in his prime, and I don't criticize Alvarez for taking this position. I may not like it but I understand it and respect his perspective. At the center of all this is the chaotic boxing enterprise which consists of independent entrepreneur teams each pursuing their self-interest. I am free to tune out as is everyone else.
You respect his perspective of holding onto the belts, and not defending them against the top challenger, and in the process robbing a young fighters of his chance of legacy? A young fighter who put his health and life on the line every fight to earn the shot? I'm glad your not a Canelo apologist...lmao.
You are exactly whats wrong with boxing by using every excuse in the book to defend a champion disgracing the sport, and the belts by blatantly ducking an opponent because he is scared to lose. His actions completely undermined the sport and disrespected the fans, yet the brown nosers will still look for every angle to defend it. Pathetic.Last edited by Oracle01; 12-30-2024, 07:12 PM.joseph5620 likes this.

Benavidez hasn’t proven he brings in the money so his setbacks mean more. If he didn’t lose his titles the way he did he would have had a much stronger claim.
Is a tough fight for Canelo? Absolutely. He is a naturally bigger man and Canelo is a smaller guy for his recent weights. Bene put himself in a position where Canelo doesn’t need him anymore and unless the Saudi’s come in with a godfather offer then Canelo makes his money no matter who he fights. He’s a made man. Took the risks early in his career and now he’s an older fighter that can call his shots. Don’t hate the player hate the game.
I call bullchit on everything you are saying
If it were the other way you’d be screaming bloody fughin murder
Listen to what your saying and reverse names and comeback and tell me that it’s fair what your saying
Like I said before , I ain’t no Canelo fan or Benny for that matter but what’s good for the geese is good for the gander ???
Right ???
How many years has he been thé mando ???
If the roles were reversed , you and all of Mexico would be on suicide watch
Live with it , your guy doesn’t ( I won’t even say duck ) wanna fight Benny
Don't make it harder than it isjoseph5620 likes this.

When Floyd was chasing the ODLH fight he didn’t make the offer. He accepted it.
When Canelo wanted the Floyd fight he wasn’t in a position to make an offer. He got off Floyd’s undercard and took a risky fight against an undefeated Trout coming off a win against Cotto and filled up the Alamodome (I was there) and showed he could be a big money fight for the top guy. His own team and Oscar advised him against taking that fight.
Running around crying mandatory shows a lack of understanding of the fight game. They mean nothing to the top guy. Benavidez hurt himself by his own actions. He was on his way to getting what he wants but got in his own way. Now he is in a position of begging for that payday and fighting for short money. That’s on him. Canelo doesn’t need him.Last edited by QballLobo; 01-01-2025, 02:40 PM.Verus likes this.

That’s why its absurd he thinks him or his team is in a position to make any offers to the top dog. Prize fight game doesn’t work that way which was the point of my original post.

ok , I’ll play
So why hasn’t Canelo made him an offer
As you pointed he top dog and the man , so why no offer ???
If he made an offer we wouldn’t be discussing this because I’d jump on a Benny’s back because offer it is HE should take it
But still no offer
Why no offer ???
