I don't mind Paulie. I think he's a better commentator than he was a fighter and that's Okay. He's got the gift of gab and if anything, you can take his word for it or respect his opinion when he commentates or talks on the podcasts because he actually was in the ring. Erase the fact that some of his wins might of been eeeeh, or that he couldn't hurt a female boxer if he tried, he still got in the ring and fought with some tough guys. That is something 90% of the boxing commentators cannot say they did.

To be fair to Paulie...he never juiced up so he could have more KO's or star power but instead spoke out against steroid and PED use in the sport!!!...He knew exactly what was going on and was the lone wolf ousted from the pack...he was helpless in that aspect and he fought as honest and clean as any body could in that corrupt sport!!!...He gets props for that!!!...

So yeah...he's a master boxer to have fought cleanly with low KO's naturally...if he had juiced up...he'd be a first ballot hall of famer!!!...

          Paulie can stuck 100 words in a 5 secs sentence ... That's a feat ...

As a fighter he was OK ... Just got the easy way to the top and took advantage of it ... props to him...

Why does he have to be either?

He was a good boxer, late starter who won a national championship as an amateur from memory.

Went on to have a solid professional career, he was very good against Cotto, and I think the first N'dou fight was his best performance, most people expected that to be a competitive fight, N'dou was a handful at that time, and Paulie pretty much shut him out, that was a performance worthy of being a world champ.

after that, it was won some lost some, but def enough good wins and performances to cement him as a solid world level operator.

He had a big personality and, win or lose, he fought a ton of big names. That makes people remember him. I don't think anyone would ever confuse him for a HOF level guy, but he doesn't have to be a great to be memorable.

              Paulie vs world titlists:
L vs Miguel Cotto UD 12
              W vs Lovemore N'dou UD 12
              W vs Lovemore N'dou SD 12
L vs Ricky Hatton TKO 11
L vs Juan Diaz UD 12
W vs Juan Diaz UD 12
L vs Amir Khan TKO 11
W vs Vyacheslav Senchenko TKO 9
L vs Adrien Broner SD 12
              W Zab Judah UD 12
L vs Shawn Porter TKO 4
L vs Danny Garcia TKO 9

Did you know he also got robbed a few times? Like against bronner?

He was respectable. We can't have every fighter be great if greatness means anything.

It's so funny with you... You hype up these ridiculous Euro bums because of the alphabet soup they drink and then you take respectable fighter with a decent career and call him a hype job.

Pauli about as good as Joshua.

Also, Paulie got some hype because was one of Lou's initial signings when he launched DBE. At the time, HBO and Showtime had an interest in seeing Lou become a major promoter after years of dealing with King, Muhammed, Arum, etc. Showtime did a whole documentary on Paulie - which is pretty crazy because they didn't do one like that on the many bigger fighters that had been on their network.

broner fight wasnt a robbery but ok. a guy moving up 2 weight divisions who turned out to suck there? thats a great win?

comparing joshua to paulie is laughable. what is that based on? like i said paulie has 2 top 10(ring) ranked wins. joshua has 8. the guys joshua beat are also clearly better by the rankings: wlad 1, parker 3, ruiz 3, whyte 4 after joshua, etc...i mean senchenko was ranked 5th which doesnt compare to joshua but if you really want to break down senchneko..

he won a vacant belt against an unranked guy, defended it a couple of times against nobodies, and was overranked simply for having a belt because he never beat a top 10 ranked opponent. literally everything you said about euro bums and alphabet soup applies to paulies best win!

senchenko su-cked so bad that he fought brook the next year and got blasted out in a couple rounds because class tells over time and with larger sample sizes. the guys joshua beat are all top class fighters with many top 10 wins, yeah some like charles martin are senchenko level sure, but he has the class wins as well. paulie does not.
