The IBF will rank anyone who is willing to sign up for their nonsense. That's the sad reality. The good fighters know that the WBA, WBC, and WBO are going to be much less of a headache so the IBF is left with the scrubs and/or the guys without a strong promotional backer.

Sometimes seems like they refuse to rank anyone ranked by the other organizations, and then end up with guys from like 45 and below as a result. They're a joke, and they don't even follow their own rules. There's been several times lately that they gave exceptions to people who didn't deserve it, but stripped undisputed champions to give it to guys who many on this forum would label trash.

Eh... cruiserweight is unbelievably thin. I don't think the IBF rankings are any worse than the WBO in anyway.

Not an ideal opponent but at least the bout is soon and once completed, it will free up the best in cruiserweight division to face mid-2025. I did read in a press release yesterday the Sheik plans to match Opetaia vs Zurdo around May 2025. Enjoy Chrismas Zurdo, Opetaia is no joke and 20 times more difficult than CBS to fight.

The IBF is a complete joke. They are irrelevant. Opetaia should be free to face some serious opposition that his talent deserves. This "mandatory" is lucky to deserve even a top 25 ranking.

I like that IBF enforces there mandatorys better than the other orgs but on the flip side there usually poor mandatorys. Opetia should get rid of this guy in 3 rounds but he needs a big fight. Gotta be Ramirez or mikalayen in a unification by the summer

I would never say this previous, but I didn't think Jai looked all that great in his last two fights (especially against Grandpa Breidis). Elsewhere, I thought Zurdo did (to an extent).

Too bad we have to sit through this nonsense first to see what's what.

Can someone please explain how he's linear champion when he didn't beat the man who beat the man?
