DAZN doesn't rely on the sport of boxing alone. I've been seeing them cover all kinds of sports. Seems they've become the goto for small and big promotional outfits. I see muay thai, MMA, soccer, cricket, rugby, dart, you name it, sports that I've not seen them in before. It's growing.

All they need is a media whore and 10 million zombies vs a boxer with historic pedigree and a stacked under-card with a bear vs elephant, two roasters and some noob screaming the tiger needs to sign with PBC and Crawford is avoiding the elephant.
Because America, that's why!Last edited by factsarenice; 11-19-2024, 09:53 AM.

DAZN can survive, but they need to adjust their model to work. As a boxing fan, I have survived without DAZN because I have had a few other outlets to entertain me. If that is no longer the way it will work come 2025, yes they will likely get me. But the casual fan is what keeps a sport alive and thriving. Boxing is losing what casual fans they have by putting everything behind a paywall. This is unsustainable.
DAZN needs to start by dropping prices, especially the yearly one. Amazon and some other services have shown once someone has subscribed yearly, they are way more likely to stay with it than a monthly model. Next, ensure PPV is WAY cheaper for those subscribing. Again, do you want a few thousand buys at a high price, or multiple tens of thousands at a cheaper one? Charge more for non-subscribers and hope that consumers see the advantage of using the service to enjoy the PPVs at affordable rate.
Next, acquire some documentaries and other reality based sports-related content that is cheaper to produce or buy, and allows for easy repeated viewing. Again, this is about **** for the buck on both sides. Produce some regionally produced shows talking about local fighters or other sports. Get other, cheaper combat sports. Grab growing smaller leagues. Sounds like this is happening in Europe markets.
Lastly- once or twice a year do a free, available to everyone with an app card that is truly big. Of course sell ads to offset this, but get people to use your service. There will always be a group of people who will try it over time if they are interested. But you need eyeballs to grow. Free provides eyeballs.
Of course investors are needed, but growth (real or imagined) will get those. DAZN will fail with out casual fans because sports fail without them. This needs to be the focus.

I pay a yearly fee for DAZN, just because i’m that big of a boxing fan, only to watch it 2-3 times a year.
I do not see regular casuals ever doing this. DAZN doesn’t really offer anything that appeals to the masses.
It’s like HBO. It had boxing, but it also had TV shows that made it worth keeping it. I still have HBO even though boxing is gone.
