    i don't think it's just a product of arum's greed.

there's really no one else to fight at 140 aside from maybe bradley but that's not a big enough fight.

he would have fought at 147 regardless (pbf or ssm) , cotto is just as good.

i actually think cotto MIGHT be the only 147 guy pac can beat tbh. due to some of his weaknesses and size and style.

i don't have a problem with this fight. it's not anywhere near the WTF? level of oscar-pac.
This fight makes the most fight from a top rank standpoint because of this.

With mayweather back in the game, with mosley still out there, and with welterweight stacked, this is the best way to provide fans with an exciting matchup, in a fight thats winnable for both pac and cotto, before either of them are served up to either mosley, mayweather or berto or any other WW contender. Basically the fights for pac here on out are not gimmie paydays, which is why i think they are talking retirement after this fight. Guys like mayweather and mosley are not going to be just guys who are going to stand there and take a beating, or walk in with their hands down waiting to get hit. Cotto isnt that type of guy neither, but cotto also fights under the same banner, so its a win/win for arum. Again, if i had my boring choice, i would have liked to have seen pac clear out 140 and take on the contenders there because in reality, much in the same way mayweather is critisized, Pac just kind of grabbed a titles from 135/140 but didint do anything else there. Especially with the david diaz fight, i think pac has been matched well his last 3 fights, but this is the fight that truely will test how his run really matches up, or was it all clever matchmaking, you see what i mean?

nope...floyd deserves 35% vs pac...should be minus 10% if he runs and not engage....

pac's retirement has nothing do with money. some crooked politicians are trying to convince him to get into politics to try to capitalize on his fame and pac is listening to them.

if he losses the election he might fight a little more.

of course this fight is very lucrative for bob but it's not like it's a fight no one wants. this fight is ridiculous a year ago but after what pac did to hatton at 140......well 140 champ vs. 147 champ is not an unusual occurence in boxing.

i disagree with the careful matchmaking.

diaz was. he was a top rank fighter with a belt at a division pacquiao was moving up to. i honestly believe diaz was just a tuneup for bigger and better things at 135 for pacquiao.

          however 3 things happened:

          1. floyd pulled out of the oscar fight and oscar had to scramble for an opponent

          2. hatton turned down oscar because he wanted a tuneup first. i think they had hatton-oscar in mind after oscar beats pacquiao in a low risk , big name , big money fight.

          3. pacquiao ended up beating oscar. that threw oscar-hatton out the window and paved the way for hatton-pac to get made.

i consider it more LUCK than CLEVER MATCHMAKING (aside from diaz).

if floyd hadn't pulled out of the oscar fight , oscar-pac doesn't get made.

if hatton didn't want a tuneup with malignaggi first before oscar-hatton , oscar-pac doesn't get made.

if pacquiao had lost to delahoya (like he was suppose to) , pac-hatton doesn't get made.

that little bastard is just lucky. he was a last minute replacement to fight ledwaba when ledwaba's opponent pulled out.

he got lucky when barrera picked him to be a tuneup.

he was fortunate in getting the hatton and delahoya fights which wasn't really planned.

he got lucky that he got the close decision in the marquez rematch. (lucky as in it went his way not necessarily that he might not have deserved it)

i don't think arum is that CLEVER at matchmaking. a lot of perfect timing and luck involved.

remember up until end of 2006 he wasn't even with arum. muhsin muhammad was just throwing him up against whoever , to milk him. no one thought a little asian fighter from philippines who doesn't speak english well could ever be a moneymaker.

                THAN OMG AND WTF...!!!

You guys hated on this fight from day one.
even with a recession, the media trashing this fight, fans talking of boycotting and UFC competing with it all on the same night...
The Mayweather fight still did more than Pacquiao vs. Hatton and probably Pacquiao vs. Cotto

The deck was completely stacked against Mayweather and he still pull it out.
This fight proved Mayweather claim on him being a cash cow.
oh yeah..he has been off for 2 years

                900,000 at $49.95 = 44.95 Million in P.P.V Revenue
                925,000 at $49.95 = 46.20 Million in P.P.V Revenue
                950,000 at $49.95 = 47.45 Million in P.P.V Revenue
                975,000 at $49.95 = 48.70 Million in P.P.V Revenue
                1.0 Million at $49.95 = 49.95 Million in P.P.V Revenue
                1.1 Million at $49.95 = 54.94 Million in P.P.V Revenue

                1.5 Million at $49.95 = 74 Million in P.P.V Revenue
                1.6 Million at $49.95 = 79 Million in P.P.V Revenue

Mayweather has $10 million guarantee, minimum
Marquez has $3.2 million guarantee, minimum

Mayweather Promotions was also the lead promoter (Mayweather promotions paid for the 24/7 and etc) with Golden boy being co- promoter.

I mean damn Floyd Mayweather could be looking at taking home anywhere from
40- 65 Million dollars including live gate and Movie sales numbers for a fight with Juan Man. Marquez…!!!

I guess he wasn’t lying when he said he will make more money than Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto combined.!!

BETTER BELIEVE, FLOYD will be enforcing
60/40 for a fight with Pacquiao
70/30 for a fight with Cotto

and I hope 95/5 for a fight the "JUICE MAN"Mosley
Mayweather could make 40-60 mil for a fight but Cotto and Pacquiao can not make 30 mil??
Mayweather vs Marquez sold 13,116 tickets

"MONEY" MAYWEATHER to make 40-65 MILLION w/ fight MARQUEZ .. (OMG + WTF) !!!

Horus you also need to update the prices for the ppv. The prices for the ppv are $54.99.
and did you also remember that Mayweather vs Marquez had $25 mail-in rebate discount if you bought 12-pack or larger of Tecate.

just a lil calculation that I did
                      MGM Grand capacity 17,157

This is just an estimated since we do not know how many seats are sold at the prices

                      257*$9,000=$2,313,000
(ringside tickets are being sold from $9,000 to $47,000)

$9,000 to $49,000 at this websiter

                      $15,000 to $47,000

                      4,000*$150=$600,000
                      4,000*$300=$1,200,000
                      4,000*$500=$2,000,000
                      3,000*$700=$2,100,000
                      2,000*$1000=$2,000,000
$10,213,000 and I doubt that Cotto vs Pacquiao by selling out MGM will make less than $13,000,000-$15,000,00

                      Pacquiao vs Hatton
15,368 tickets and had a gate of $8,832,950.
