Everybody is saying how the sale was cheap but, I am not sure about that. This might be another money losing venture for the Sheik.

This is a boxing forum for hard core boxing fans and I wonder how much of your hard earned money has anyone on this site spend with The Ring? I have not spent $1 ever. How many people visit their web site? I don't remember last time I did.

Last time I bought a boxing magazine was maybe 20 years ago (I am not sure but a very long time ago). The point is this - if hard core boxing fans do not spend any money on it, how are they going to turn that $10M (plus additional investment to modernise it) into something?

or perhaps he is lucky to get his money back because The Ring is not worth that much anyway.

I know magazines are "dead", but in this situation I think there just needs to be a presence. Having a fighter's face on the magazine in the aisle at some checkout stand or otherwise. Let's frame the new faces of the sport

I always loved The Ring, I still have many copies in a box somewhere. .I really relied on it in the 2000s when I didn't have cable at school or couldn't catch all fights and had no on demand. if I saw one in a store, I would usually grab it.

I might have enjoyed boxing more just following via the Ring and the TV fights as opposed to getting online and surrounding yourself with jaded, curmudgeony hardcore fans. Sometimes I like to switch it up and go back to towing the line as a casual fan, look at it thru naive eyes and just take it as it comes. Ring Mag reminds me of being that kind of fan. I see a lot of enthusiasm for boxing from younger fans in Youtube comments, there's something in that that can hopefully be drawn out and built out.

For example, figuring out how to gamify the sport in a Fantasy Football type of way would be something I'd love to see. Something more complex than simply picking winners of any given card. Something "season long" or "Dynasty" format.

I hope for the best for The Ring.

This may have more to do with the Ring Belt- Turki has essentially acquired a respected belt that isn’t given to anyone and if he can freeze out the corrupt WBA etc with their 5 champions per division- that would be interesting

How would that be any different from the great propaganda machines that are Fox News and CNN ?
We have them in the good ol USA too. The Saudis are just replicating our blue print

I actually like that idea, it might force the other belts to either improve everything or fade away.

I'm not sure there is much you can do with it nowadays beyond The Ring becoming its own streaming platform or something to that effect.

The ****zine days are mostly over. That and when it was a hot item, I had to go out of my way to find them in Jersey. Typically, I could only find them at one particular book store in NYC and would pick it up whenever I'd train over to hang for the day in the city. It's just not a common ****zine to be found.
Pretty sure they'll be online. Maybe theyll even start a boxing forum and actually have stickies for current cards and not a bunch of ****** threads about girls posts and youtuber fights.

He's effectively a promoter... so, no, it's not going to be independent.

Makes me wonder. He's pretty clearly keen on his Undisputed Belt having some standing either alongside or in place of the organisations... maybe he sees this as the way to get his belt to the top of the tree by merging it with Ring.
