Does Joshua starting late at age 18 explain why he was helpless against Usyk in technical boxing?

For what it's worth, Larry Holmes who hates everybody, felt Joshua had some of that old school greatness.

    Joshua would KO Mike Tyson

“Parker, for me, I think of the heavyweights he will go down in history.”
He’s had his trials and tribulations and he just comes back stronger and stronger. Obviously, I’ll fight him if I need to, but aside from that, I take my hat off to him.

He’s one you can learn from." - Anthony Joshua

There's a lot to be learnt so starting early definitely has its advantages.

He's not good enough for Teddy Atlas to include among Joshua wins.

"who did he beat, Charles Martin? An old Wlad?" /Atlas

Usyk was one of about 3 or 4 men on earth who is capable of beating Joshua under the rules that history claims matter.

Who can say if starting at 12 might have pushed him any higher?
My guess is that he beat out the odds as well as he could.
I believe Joshua is a well-skilled boxer with big power. However, I also believe that Usyk is an excellently skilled boxer, and Joshua just cannot seem to beat the guy. I believe he keeps trying to alter his game, which in itself may cause him problems, because it's such a stark departure from what got him to the championship level. While evolving as a boxer may be beneficial, trying to learn a new style can be detrimental. I agree with you though; Joshua lost to one of the best in the business, and not by a large margin. He deserves credit for that.

You're only as good as the set of whiskers you're born with. Punch resistance isn't something you're taught.

Joshua doesnt take shots as good as Usyk or Parker or Fury and now Dubois.

AJ's chin has been cracked. It's staying cracked.

manny steward kept vlads whiskers out of harms way for a lot of the time & wlad always looked very confident on his ring walks in the ring etc, unlike AJ who looks a bit shook now entering the ring to me at times anyway, his reactions would be slower if this is the case

TBH, I think with AJ it usually comes down to his mental state. He loses the fight in his head before he ever gets in the ring.

How many HWs currently CAN beat Usyk in a straight up technical boxing match? i'd say zero.

Not IQ. Some people are intelligent body learners. Some people have very high reasoning ability intellectually but have
                      ret rdd physical learning capabilities.

So it has nothing to do with how intelligent somebody is intellectually. I just want to make sure you understand my point before you disagree with it and raise a point that I'm not making.
