    it’s small men time

    Naoya
    Bam
    Junto

To be completely honest I prefer watching featherweight to 175. Fighters >= 5 ft 6

but these small guys are too good in this era

Obviously Tank. Morrell is one of the most marketable fighters out there . I still think Munguia has a good chance. He’s still a huge name in the Mexican community, he just needs bigger name dance partners. Of course there’s Ryan but he’s too unpredictable

Why does anyone cares who's going to be the next SRL? Whoever takes over needs to be good, charismatic and fight real competition. The ginger took the title by default because he was never that good, and doesn't fight the best competition. The need for this generation of fans to have a simbol or idol put him in that place, for them. Older and real fans of the sport have never need an idol to watch boxing, don't take me wrong we all have our favorite fighters, the difference is my generation wanted to see our favorite fight the best, no matter the outcome, this generation is content with their idol fight a no-hoper because they can't bare the thought of their guy losing. Again, why does anyone care?

I think tank could be it, if he picks it up. Munguia is not good enough and as soon as he steps up in class, the results aren't going to be favorable, or he can go canelo's route and maybe dome of ginger's fans bites the bait.

Hey man, I'm with you. I love watching the lighter weight classes due to the energy level and action they bring, but it also takes more effort for them to become a megastar. It usually requires them eventually jumping up in weight and picking on another well known fighter to breakout. Hard to say who could be successful with that from the current crop.

I think it just helps keep eyeballs on the sport and eyeballs pay the bills. Barring Canelo and Mike Tyson about to fight, it's hard to find a casual that knows anyone else in the sport that fights. The lack of these folks means a lack of viewers which do help pay the bills and make boxing lucrative.

Love him or hate him, Canelo continues to keep casuals talking about the sport or tuning in. They consider it an "event" just because he fights, even if only twice a year. Without the big name, how do these casuals find out who fights anymore? There is no free boxing anymore on tv. You basically need to seek it out and a casual that doesn't know much or care about it, is less likely to seek it out.

No one. Without HBO and Showtime out of the game it is very difficult to build any mainstream stars. They throw these young guys on PPV before anyone outside of hardcore boxing fans know who they are and wonder why the events don’t do numbers on PPV.

Boxing is in a bad spot and will be even more niche the next decade.

Bam is 24 and already a top fighter, fighting the best. I don't see anyone except Inoue or Nakatani. Problem is Americans, especially these casual fanboi cheerleaders, don't watch the lower weights so there's that

No one. Boxing is popular just enough at a global level where each region will have their own favorite, but no one great enough to be THE guy throughout the globe. Heck even Canelo right now is a good step down from the last generation of face of the boxing era given that he's huge in US/Mexico but not as big outside like the last guys used to be.

US will have their only famous fighters of the US boxing aka States proclaimed face of boxing that no one outside US knows or cares about, UK will continue to have their domestic UK hero, Australia will have their Aussie golden boy to root for, and Japan/Asia would continue to have their own ways in the lower weight divisions.

We could have had the guy already, or canelo could have been bigger. His lack of balls have made this a little tricky, but in boxing a figure has always emerge and take the Center stage. This is the first time in over 60 years that that I see fans asking this question, that's why I posted earlier. We need better fights and one or two will come out on top.
