Comments Thread For: Serhii Bohachuk's promoter talks Israil Madrimov match and other big potential fights

For Serhii Bohachuk, 2024 has been a year of figuratively rolling with the punches. Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) was supposed to fight Sebastian Fundora for the vacant WBC junior middleweight world title in March on the undercard of Tim Tszyu vs. Keith Thurman. But when Thurman got hurt, Fundora stepped in -- and suddenly the main event was for both Tszyu's WBO title and the WBC title. Bohachuk instead defeated Brian Mendoza for the interim WBC belt.

I doubt he beats Madrimov, but it's a great fight

I assure you Madrimov is not as tough as Bohachuk. Nothing special about Madrimov other than feints. When things get tough the Uzbeks fold.

I think, those two knockdown weren't luck. Sergii won the fight, but the hometown edge was stretched for finances, Ortiz sells better. Murtazaliev looks like a beast, but Tim isn't a real Russian. I'm glad these two are thinning the herd.

No they weren't luck because he did land punches right before Ortiz Jr's knees/hands touched the canvas, but I'd say it was more due to Ortiz Jr's feet being tangled or off balance.

In a rematch that fight is 50/50 in my opinion. I might slightly favor Ortiz Jr for the simple fact that when he switched up from brawler to Boxer he gained control of the fight.

Ortiz can box a little from when I first saw him. He has to stay on his feet. He gets hurt and it shows. It gives the impression that he is frail. He did outland Bo, but he didn't scare him.

I got Madrimov by TKO stoppage. He is just the better fighter.

Bohachuk really got screwed over badly in all of this.

He was supposed to fight Fundora for the WBC title.
Then Fundora ends up fighting Tszyu instead, so Bohachuk ends up fighting Mendoza (who knocked out Fundora) for an interim strap instead
Then Bohachuk defends his interim strap against Ortiz, drops him twice, and gets robbed blind on the scorecards

And now he has to fight Madrimov for no belts.

Regardless of how we see the outcome of close fights, we are all forgetting one thing. A couple of years ago, all these guys at 154 were fighting in virtual anonymity, making peanuts every time they step in the ring to risk their lives. Now they are getting paid life changing money for each fight. My guess is that Madrimov and Bohachuk will make more money out of their last two fights (win, loose or draw) than they made in their entire career up to that point. Plus everybody is talking about them, so not bad going for both of them and their families.
