Davis vs Roach, any chance this fight becomes competitive?

Or is it purely just a showcase fight for Tank?

I believe boxing is 80% mental. If you go in there against a power puncher and your entire game plan is to disengage and run, I don't think that's a winning mentality. It's probably okay if your objective is to last the distance.

You should go in there and fight fire with fire. No different from standing up to a bully. And that could only be attained by focusing also on mental conditioning, not just physical.

If it were going to be competitive Davis wouldn't have taken the fight.

      Davis:
      has never unified
has never challenged for a lineal championship
has never challenged for a TBRB championship
has never challenged for a Ring championship
has never faced the top rated TBRB or Ring opponent in any division

Will say that Gervonta Davis is very entertaining fighting toe to toe against Frank Martin even at the expense of getting caught often despite his well rounded skillset and insane punching power.

and he will sell well depending how the fight is brought up.

Short answers is no, Roach doesn't have any business fighting Davis, not only is he competing a lighter weight division, he went life and death with feather fisted Hector Luis Garcia after the Dominican had been stopped by Davis with relative ease. Davis also had beaten him twice in the amateurs apparently so he is aware of Roach's style.

and his fans are sadly defending it.

Hope Rayo Valenzuela vs Edwin De Los Santos II happens eventually, do wonder if Jose's improvements can pull him the victory now that he is aware what "La Granada" brings to the table. He got too confident after dropping him in the second round.

Nothing can be done about it now. You just have to hope this Roach guy would muster the courage to fight fire with fire as you indicated. And we just saw another example of that last night, the Russian fighting the Australian's fire with fire.
