Have fans finally acclimated to prevalent inactivity in boxing?

Yeah, I think so. They don't care that much anymore. Probably because many promotional companies, albeit small to mid-size, have sprung up that fans no longer focus on one or two platforms alone, thus being able to watch fights almost every week.

To be fair, some fighters genuinely want to be active, but the politics of boxing hampers them from doing so. But most just naturally want to have long vacation never caring about the short life-span of a career like boxing or any contact sport for that matter.

I mean, given the endless bickering Inoue gets for fighting Doheny for his stay busy fight in between two mandos, I have a feeling some people would've rather had Inoue just fight twice this year, Nery and Goodman only, instead of three times in Nery, Goodman, and an extra Doheny so inactivity is a virtue these days /s

No, I don't think they care that much anymore.

Look at T Bud Crawford being able to roam around open spaces flaunting his presence not feeling apologetic for fighting once a year in the last five years. Fiver years ago he's in his early 30s. He's even given special privileges and excuses for not going after the top guys in his current division.

The less you fight, the less you lose and the longer you stay champion/unbeaten for. You wanna be a star? Fight once a year (preferably against over-matched opposition) and put in the real work on social media. Name-drop and start beef with all the top guys in your division so that people think you will fight them. Allude to all the sparring sessions you won in the past. Do anything to keep your name out there (except fight).

Activity is terrible for boxers. How are you meant to stay up all night tweeting and deleting if you're tired from the gym? What are you gonna blame your next loss on if you can't use the almighty Ring Rust™ as an excuse? That the other guy was just better?? Hogwash! Excuses are what you need. Just remember to start off each sentence with some variation of "I make no excuses tonight..." right before you rattle off all your excuses. Fools 'em every time.

They will beg for fights in their late 30s, don't worry. They'd be on undercards and get paid peanuts. They won't have proper, expensive training anymore because they can't afford it. It's a downward trajectory from that point on. Would be almost impossible to get big money fights by then, which they desperately need.

Less fights, less risks. Makes perfect sense. With the added bonus of letting the active potential opponent incur wear and tear first before getting into him.

I hate it. I think it’s really hurt the mainstream popularity of the sport too.

So many platforms and all that streaming really turned off a lot of fans.

You know damn well he was locked out of all the big fights at 147-154.

PBC wouldn't let him fight Spence or Charlo, who had all the belts.

No one gets any medal for being active in this sport. Not even a plaque of appreciation. The inactive ones eventually get their HOF induction even for just fighting once every 18 months.
