It’s very possible David wants one more lesser fight before going in against a fighter he knows is risky.
I agree with everything you say - BUT it sounds like a publicity stunt. It is too good to be true.

Today is a day for Fake news and publicity stunts. They also published a story about Fundora fighting Spence next January and then immediately after that another story was published about Fundora only being focused on a fight with Crawford, not Spence. What do you believe? Who do you believe these days?

Morel is perfectly capable of pulling the upset. In fact, Benavidez is due to hit a brick wall in the not too distant future. He’s not as lethal as he thinks he is. If he was, he would have been able to stop Plant or Gvozdyk. He didn’t even drop them. And don’t give me that hand injury bull because it was reported that a doctor gave him a whopping two weeks to heal that hand.

        It's better than Canelo's

Benavidez, 27, and Morrell, 26, both opted this year to leave the super-middleweight division because they couldn’t land a title fight against then-undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez.

        That speaks for itself.

Hopefully it will be the fight after next for them . If Benavidez is fighting Hart in December , Morrell should get on the undercard against somebody at least decent to stay sharp. I think that it's a 50/50 fight , but lean towards Morrell having more one punch power.

We know that's why Benavidez moved up, but are we sure about Morrell? My understanding is he moved up to chase David. In fact, I don't recall him ever showing any real interest in fighting Canelo beyond a few throwaway "sure" quotes. He's always on about fighting Benavidez, correct me if I'm wrong.
