American heavyweights are now power forwards, shooting guards, running backs, line backers, safeties, and defensive ends, all getting bachelor degrees, and making millions right out of university. Boxing can’t compete with that for the big menLast edited by Oldskoolg; 09-23-2024, 11:58 AM.Comment

Not an AJ fan myself, but in reply to all of those stating he's finished, why are we ignoring the fact that his fight plan was all wrong ? Hands low, chin high, poor footwork, could not establish the jab, did not take advantage of his reach. The "fine margins" that AJ referred to, such as Dubois' superior speed, may have had an impact, but, obviously, so did the big blunders. That knockdown in the first was avoidable, and paved the way for what followed.

Aj is a true warrior. Doesn;t give up easily like most of the people on this forum would, accepts losses, praises his opponents when he loses, and tries to get better.
In contrast - in interviews before the AJ fight, Fury was still saying he won the Usyk fight and that Usyk only won 4 rounds at most.

After the first round you can give AJ a break for his lack of boxing smarts because he wasn't all there and was on wobbly legs. Aj has terrible recovery. The real surprise after that point was how long Dubois took to finish him.

No! Joshua is now a ruined fighter who cannot be rebranded or rebuilt. His skills have diminished.
He is a gatekeeper status now. Both his legs, chin, reflexes and hand to eye coordination are all gone.Comment

He has reached his physical peak. Now he is on the decline.
The scary part about AJ is that he never made any adjustments. He kept getting hit with the same punches over and over again.
Which means he never saw those punches coming and it is also indicative of an aging fighter.Comment

^^^^This right here. AJ made some fundamental mistakes and DDD made him pay dearly. I'd also add that Joshua made poor use of his height and reach advantages. He should have jabbed Dubois to death, then dropped the right bomb on him. Instead, he conceded the jab war to Daniel and only tried to land bombs.Comment

I was kidding of course, and you're right in regard to their jaws. But I think AJ also lacks mental fortitude, whereas Khan showed some balls more than once, even in his worst defeats.Comment
