Chocolatito, Bam, and their promoter have all consistently said they don't want this fight. It isn't just that they share a promotional relationship; Bam and Chocolatito have a close friendship and Bam considers him a mentor.

Pedro Guevara is a good fight for Bam if that's next. Guevara consistently has close fights at the world level:
D vs Mario Rodriguez SD 12 (future IBF strawweight champion)
L vs John Riel Casimero SD 12 (3 division world titlist)
W vs Raul Garcia SD 12 (former 2X strawweight world titlist)
W vs Mario Rodriguez UD 12 (former IBF strawweight champion)
W vs Akira Yaegashi TKO 7 (3 division world titlist)
W vs Ganigan Lopez UD 12 (future WBC light flyweight champion)
L vs Yu Kimura SD 12 (took the WBC light flyweight belt from Guevara)
W vs Oswaldo Novoa SD 8 (former WBC strawweight champion)
L vs Kenshiro Teraji MD 12 (reigning and future light flyweight champio)
L vs Carlos Cuadras SD 12 (former WBC super flyweight champion)
W vs Andrew Moloney SD 12 (vacant WBC interim belt at stake)

It would be a nice accomplishment if Bam could be the first guy to beat Guevara clean. Casimero, Kimura, Teraji, and Cuadras all needed split or majority decisions to get by him. A stoppage win for Rodriguez would be impressive. Guevara is a crafty, experienced guy who knows how to steal rounds and stay alive.

Guevara is a good stay-busy fight TBH. Former light fly champion, current interim champion who has done good work against top guys. I think Bam v the winner of the Puma Martinez v Ioka rematch is where it's at though. But there's more than a few good fights to be made at 115.

I seem to remember before the Estrada fight an article about Bam not wanting "stay busy" fights but only wanting the best, the most exciting fights to be made. He could not get motivated to prepare otherwise for meaningless fights.

He probably does want only exciting fights aka unifications if he had a choice, but would rather have an okay fight against Guevara if the alternate was no fight for a year. It would also get rid of the interim belt left from Estrada as well.

I mean, can't do anything about Ioka-Rodriguez rematch slated for December, and Tanaka already has a defense scheduled next month, so Guevara really is the third best choice left in 115 unless Bam suddenly decides he will move to 118 immediately.

Fighters say a lot of things outside the ring, but both of these guys could use a good paycheck.

Bam can move up and fight Nakatani. Unless he's scared.
