Let's look at it. 4 fight slots on the PPV, its a little low these days but it's what we're working with. The main card takes up a spot, so Fulton can't complain about that. The second spot features two multidivision titlists whom both have accomplished more then Fulton so he can't complain about that one either. Rolly Romero is under the dark blessing of some heathen witch so he gets a spot despite not deserving it. So that leaves only one spot open and it would be a tossup between Plant and Fulton (both were titlists with a few defenses but lost to the big dogs of their division). But I think the last spot went to Plant because both Plant and Mccumby have been vocal about selling their fight whereas Fulton has not.

Figueroa was going after him for a rematch before and after the Inoue fight.
That's what I believe made Fulton take a long break and waited for the rematch to die down.
Even though Figueroa has moved up in weight, correct me if I'm wrong.
Fulton hated the rematch, in my opinion. He wants no more of Figueroa, yet
that's the only fight he can generate interest coming back.

Even if we suppose Fulton was going to fight every 6 month under normal circumstances, first of all Inoue beat the crap out of him so that alone probably added a month or two extra month before return given the physical and psychological damage. Plus he decided to officially move up to 126 so the preparation was also probably going to be longer in between regardless. Lastly there has been multiple semi-official news/rumors that Fulton was initially going to fight in June then August but it fell through due to promotional issues, making it this late.
Without the PBC issue I'd say he was planning a return after 10 month, which sounds about right given going to a new weight class after a KO loss.crimsonfalcon07 likes this.
