There is a quote somewhere in the middle of it.
Thanks for the link. I found the paragraph where Canelo is quoted saying that he enjoyed the fight, but I noticed that the line that reads that "he didn't want to embarrass a fellow Mexican" isn't quoted, so I don't know if he actually said that.

However, after searching for such statements, I was led to a clip of round 12 with 58 seconds remaining where Canelo hurt him and it actually appeared that he helped him stay up, said something in his ear and avoided going for the KO, so there might be some truth to him not wanting to knock him out during the 12th when he could have.

Yeah but surely you would have fancied Canelo to have got rid of him in his home country no less? I mean no disrespect to Nick Blackwell but if he could manage the feat at domestic level then surely someone who is supposed to be a P4P candidate should also be winning inside the distance. Don't forget Ryder enjoyed several moments of success in the fight, to the extent that he left Canelo with bruising around his face lol

I like Ryder more than I like Berlanga as a fighter. That was not a bad comeback fight for Canelo after surgery against a proven fighter. Ryder did have some success against Munguia too.

I have also read and article where Canelo was quoted that carried Munguia and did not want to embarrass him with a KO, but I am not sure I am buying that story. Sounds like an excuse. The absence of KOs for the last three years means only one thing - Canelo is declining and is not at the height of his powers. The absence of KOs cannot be blamed (as it usually happens to other fighters) because he stepped up the level of his competition - because he hasn't. The exact opposite is true.
Damn Wicked Damn Wicked likes this.

Canelo gets KOes on counters or feints. His reflexes have deteriorated.

Keep asking myself how in the hell Benavides is a 'legacy fight' for Alvarez if he doesn't even have a legacy yet?! Lol, Currently has no belts, when he had em, lost em two times, best win to date, a twelve rd decision vs Plant ,doesnt really sell well cause his fan base pretty limited(mostly ginger haters).

Lets face it, he's only a top contender with A LOT of hype and lot extra weight on fight night and most likely whoever wins the Bivol-Beterviev scrap will prove just that(assuming he actually steps in to plate to challenge the winner).

Benny doesn't even have the style that complicates the fighting style of Canelo ffs. I hope they get to fight cause I plant to make money off Bennys Betters. Easy money.

I'd be simply amazed if Canelo ever fights Benavidez.

I would be impressed if Canelo would fight Benavidez and Morrell right after that fight. If he won both of those fights then he would get my respect.

I think at this stage of his career, he does not care about anybody's respect.
