Benavides is the fight to make. There is no one else at 168.

On the flip side if Canelo takes the fight and beats David his haters will find another fighter that he has not fought or avoided.

Canelo knows this is a fight where he'd be forced to fight the other mans fight - just like in Golovkin 1 and he also knows its a fight he cannot win. He also sees similar outcomes in fights against Bivol and Beterbiev hence why he never mentions them.

Canelo is a guy who can only win bouts where he is controlling the action. He literally cannot win fights where he is taken away from his game - he is unable to adapt and often has no plan b. I also get the feeling his style of lateral defence does not age well and pretty soon the shots he was rolling/slipping will be connecting flush. we'll really see how good his chin is then!

His actions and responses say otherwise. The bullshhh about being the biggest star in boxing and can do what he wants is just that. Bullshhhh, only sport where this is even allowed.

I RESPECT Roy Jones and consider him to be the most athletically gifted fighter I've ever seen in all my years of watching fights. The man truly was a comic book superhero in the ring, so astonishing was his talent and the decade that he ruled the sport with unparalleled dominance. But.....he is BADLY wrong here. In fact I would Almost think Canelo himself paid him to say all of that BS. Boxing is the ONLY sport where an pro athlete can actively dodge his no.1 rated rival for as long as he wants and the governing bodies allow them to get away with it if said athlete is the golden goose of that sport. Canelo is a cherry picking, drug cheating fraud who was manufactured into being a pay per view star thanks to the void left by the retirement of Pacquiao and Mayweather. But his rabid fans and the corrupted en****** surrounding the sport have nurtured this Narrative about Canelo being a legend and a legitimate all time Hall of Famer based off of his on close inspection, weak resume. No other champion gets thoroughly and embarrassingly dominated the way Canelo does when he finally faces off against a top tier, tol flight opponent. Those two opponents being an older, smaller Mayweather and Bivol who he thought would be just another light hitting points fighter, along the lines of A Billy Joe Saunders, and the other two b level weak resume 168 pounders he won title belts from in that weak division. Except Bivol was a far cry from the usual script and totally shut Canelo down even worse than Mayweather did. Not Interested in this fight and certainly not interested in the bogus fraud headlining it.

Just because you don't like him, does not mean that you actually understand him. Hell, you probably do not even understand your partner / wife, never mind the person you never actually met in your life. I am not a Canelo fan, but I respect what he has accomplished as a boxer and a businessman.

Canelo has been quoted as saying he’d rather fight Benavidez than fight Berlanga for years…

I agree with this statement. Canelo ONLY picks fights that he thinks he can win. He will not pick a fight where he has to rise to the challenge and dig in his arsenal to beat an opponent. Benavidez may or may not beat him but to Canelo he DOESN'T know if he can beat him. He tried fighting opponents that he thought he could beat and loss. He did that with Mayweather, Lara (should have been a loss), GG (should have been a loss) and Bivol and he didn't like the feeling of losing control over his opponent. Deep down Canelo knows he will lose a few more fights but on the way out he wants to get paid handsomely.

In this instance Jones is being nice because he obviously knows both guys, so he is giving Saul some grace. He knows, as does everyone, that Saul wants nothing to do with Benavidez. He basically said, yeah, Benavidez is in his prime, too strong and too good....but Canelo has a shot.

Canelo just needs to relinquish the belts and fight whatever clown fights he wants. He isn't a champion anymore, he isn't fighting the best by a long shot. The belt orgs are a total joke and have no meaning at all at this point.
