  • Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Jr: Canelo Alvarez is not running scared from David Benavidez

Roy Jones Jr. is against the many boxing enthusiasts who believe Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is ducking David Benavidez. A former four-division world champion - Jones - believes Canelo (61-2-2, 39 KOs) is only delaying the fight with Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) to make the best out of it at the right time.

Roy is wrong, totally. This is a duck plain and simple and it’s purely out of fear.

RJJ my favorite all time fighter. Roy is a legitimately nice guy and was a great analyst because he could see both sides of a fight and he called it fair. But he sometimes gave more credit than was due to guys getting beat because he was nice.

In this instance Jones is being nice because he obviously knows both guys, so he is giving Saul some grace. He knows, as does everyone, that Saul wants nothing to do with Benavidez. He basically said, yeah, Benavidez is in his prime, too strong and too good....but Canelo has a shot.

Canelo just needs to relinquish the belts and fight whatever clown fights he wants. He isn't a champion anymore, he isn't fighting the best by a long shot. The belt orgs are a total joke and have no meaning at all at this point.

Yeah. Because Canelo is waiting for Benavidez to get more into his prime? Right.

Only way Canelo does it is if he actually gets 200 million and if Benavidez agrees to rehydration clause bull****. Saul has been going into the ring rehydrated big time for years and bigger than his opponents, he only wins because of it. He will not fight a healthy and hydrated Benavidez.

I see a Canelo "injury" soon and then a "forced" retirement. Oh sorry, I really wanted Benavidez and then Bivol and Biev, but man, I had to retire.

          He isn't fighting real threats.

I honestly don't even frickin blame the guy at this stage. His fanboys are dumb enough to pay 100 bucks to watch him beat up crap fighters and they make excuses for him. He may as well leech their money while he can. He just needs to vacate so we can see real fights.

On the contrary he is shyte scared. Berlanga and Benavidez both bring 25 lbs extra. But one of them is bum and hence being rewarded this weekend.

Is David Benavides running after Canelo Alvarez or something? Last time I saw both fighters, in each others presence 'Benavidez seemed to be apprehensive, and in complete awe of Canelo Alvarez'.

This was after Canelo Alvarez's victory against Jaime Munguia 'The video footage is out there, of this specific moment in time that I am referring to'.

As I have stated before on this subject, many people are trying to make out 'That David Benavidez is some sort of Mike Tyson Type of fighter. Maybe this narrative and perception is being created by folk within the boxing community, who don't really know boxing history or have experience many era's in the sport'.

I have always been adamant that David Benavidez does not want the Canelo Alvarez fight, anywhere near to the level that 'Certain folk in the boxing community are trying to claim'.

There was a great opportunity for David Benavidez to confront Canelo Alvarez during fight week of Munguia vs Alvarez 'If David Benavidez really wanted to fight Canelo Alvarez, then the onus is on him as the challenger to pursue Canelo Alvarez. As the week progressed David Benavidez was nowhere to be seen, and never at any point confronted and challenged Canelo Alvarez'.

Just think of the impact, those sort of actions would of had in the boxing world and beyond 'The hype for the fight between Benavidez and Alvarez, would of only gained more momentum and traction'.

Here we are once again, another fight week and Canelo Alvarez title defense 'Where is David Benavidez? Where is this man, who people are trying to claim Canelo Alvarez is afraid of? It does not look like to me, that David Benavidez even registers on Canelo Alvarez radar as a genuine threat'.

Note: Most men are instinctual aware of the competitive landscape at any given time, in whatever situation the step into 'It is natural instinct'. Most men when confronted within physical reality, maybe they are threatened, insulted or posed a challenged. Most men are going to react and give a response in all of those situation's. The respond may escalate, deescalate or completely shut down the situation.

Canelo Alvarez before he is a boxer, is clearly a competitor 'If Canelo Alvarez was challenged in front of the worlds media, then in that moment he will have to give a response. We have seen this scenario play out many times before in boxing history, were fighters have reverted to old school tactics and just quite simply confronted their targets within physical reality'.

David Haye and Bernard Hopkins, were the last two top level fighters 'Who I observed would continually use those tactics outside of the ring'.

To conclude: The stage is set again, is David Benavides going to do anything this week? Or will he let another opportunity pass him by, and complain over social media and alternative media sources'.

Is that what David Benavides has been doing? Because you see me, I don't pay attention to social media 'Guys men historically if they have a issue with each other, they have for 1000's upon 1000's of years physically confronted each other within physical reality. That is how things get done'.

Canelo Alvarez is the Undisputed Super Middle Weight Champion, he does not need to pursue any fighter in the world 'The onus is on all of his nearest competition, to pursue and pose him the challenge' etc.

Lol so you just basically assuming canelo would impose a rehydration clause and that will be the only reason of Bennys demise...you talking about 'real fights' but back when Benny had them belts fighting real B-C level opp ,everybody was quiet, the man won 2 vacant belts just to end up losing em, no unification no undisputed but yeah...now we want 'Real fights' huh Lol.

You ever heard of Caneloweight? His own personal catchweight he created? LOL.

He had reyhdration clauses against Jacobs and Kov. Two I remember. Yeah, if he ever fights Benavidez, he will want a rehydration clause.
