It may be a strategy for Canelo to marinate the fight for a bigger demand and its ok but it would not be a fair fight if Canelo would drag down to 168 an already acclimatized 175 pounder like Benavidez and also put a rehydration clause to him. Benavidez would be a mummy.

Benavidez made a big mistake when he failed to make weight and he got stripped of his belt. That lack of discipline and dedication cost him a lot.

He had reyhdration clauses against Jacobs and Kov. Two I remember. Yeah, if he ever fights Benavidez, he will want a rehydration clause.
He even had one against Rocky Fielding and had one in the failed deal for a Badou Jack fight.

The fact that Beneviedez waited years and decided to move to LHW says a lot. He is done with Canelo and sees Bivol as a big payday. Beterbiev is on his way out and Beneviedez can run the LHW division with Bivol. Canelo won;t touch either of them. I have to think that Canelo will fight Crawford in May.

Maybe if Benny wasn't high and drunk all the time he would be in a better position.

People often forget how quickly PBC moved to get Benavidez a shot at Dirrel when they fúcked Callum Smith about by changing the date and venue to Flint last minute.

so he joined the WBSS with assurances by the WBC he would get the winner, they even put that useless diamond strap up for one of Smiths fights as I said under the proviso he would get the winner.

Why does no one cry on about Benavidez avoiding Smith, he should of fought him, him and his team (PBC) moved real funny to get him his belt rather than fight or join the WBSS they stayed on the outside doing drugs and getting stripped for being overweight and expecting the Canelo fight to fall at his feet.

Canelo's track record would suggest that he is not scared of anyone. He has fought everyone for many years across multiple wight divisions from 154 to 175 lbs. It is true that sometime he avoids fighters or delays fights and punishes them i.e. denies them a big payday out of spite. Perhaps because he feels disrespected. I still remember him mocking Andrade "payday, payday, payday". The truth is, none of us really know what is in his head and why he does what he does.
