People said he was dumber than dirt and couldn't read at a 1st grade level.
He's doing much better than a lot of people 1000000x smarter.

Besides, every 5 years or so, people are claiming he'd be broke.

Just like boxing dies every other year. This year included -
''Is boxing a popular sport ?''
Yes, boxing is a popular sport that has seen a resurgence in recent years:
    • Popularity in the US
In 2021, a Harris poll found that boxing was the fourth most popular sport in the United States, with 33% of respondents saying they were fans. This is ahead of football (62%) and baseball and basketball (both at 49%).
    • Global popularity
Boxing is loved by millions worldwide, and the global boxing equipment industry was worth over $1.6 billion in 2021.
    • Younger audiences
Boxing is becoming more popular with younger audiences, including Gen-Z, who are drawn to the format and social media coverage.
    • US dominance
The US is considered to be at the top of the sport, with hundreds of world champions and dominance in Olympic boxing.

    As for Spree -
But legal issues quickly made his fortune disappear.

"The mother of his four children sued him for $200million, arguing he stopped providing for the family, allegedly breaking their long-term arrangement, the New York Times reported in 2007.
Candace Cabbil, Latrell’s baby-mama says the ball player broke a long term "cohabitation" agreement the two made in 1989 when they first met, stating that Latrell would share his life and fortune with her."
The same people that claim he is broke are the same people that claim some people who drive nice cars are actually stolen cars. They claim that some people that got a better job than them are affirmative action recipients. They claim that some people that have more money than them must be selling drugs. Unfortunately there are people out here that are dead set on believing the worst about 'some' folks. They don't need proof because they have a deep seated hatred of 'some' people to believe anything negative they hear about them. If he is broke so what. He will always go down in history as a self made billionaire athelete who did it his way. Hat tip to him!!!

He once was a billionaire but not anymore. His fortune has now dwindled down to just $400 Mil from about $1.1 Bil in 2017. Which is a $700 Mil loss.

At this rate, Mayweather would be broke within the next 3 and 1/2 years. If he doesn’t learn to curb his spending appetite.

Which is the reason why he keeps doing these exhibitions. He needs money off in his hand.

He is currently both cash poor and unemployed. He hasn’t fought professionally in over seven years.

Which means that he no longer has anymore liquid assets in terms of monthly income in order to support his lavish lifestyle. However, he does own a lot of equity though.

For example: He owns at least two private jets, six properties, several stocks in real estate, the Mayweather boxing gym, and a strip club.

In addition, he owns a fleet of expensive and luxurious vehicles too.

No, he is not currently broke. However, at the rate he is spending his money; He will be. If he doesn’t learn to curb his spending habits.

That $400 Mil fortune of his will be gone in less than five years. If he doesn’t stop living above his means. He’s already lost $700 Mil of his fortune in just seven years.

Which is a lot of money.

I think both of these 1d1ots should stop degrading boxing! Fishnets posting videos of him and his trasvertí parte we dancing almost nude! And the other one robbing the people with the WWE exhibitions against common people. Floyd might not be broke, but from his showings vs no bodies seems like it. What’s next boxing with a bear, and fishnets dancing with Ryan in fishnet thongs!

Interesting take. Froch would have been better suited for the story and none of this "rent-free on someone's head" silliness would show up as the Mayweather subject quickly became Dela Hoya who is doing well as a promoter, yet his past is the one they keep on resurrecting. Which shows some people have no appreciation for improvement.

Nothing to do at all with "appreciation for improvement." It's all about fans being fans for life to a guy they see as a diety. The worship him and can't possibly say anything remotely negative. They'd rather focus on a guy and his past. They're enablers like parents still giving money to their drug-addicted kid. Look at them...look....

I don’t disagree with you at all. If it happens it happens. My opinion about him as a boxer will never change - Floyd is 100% a top 5 . I won’t even argue with anyone who says he’s a top 3

What I meant with Sprewell is the guy turned down a $21 million three year contract because “it wasn’t enough to feed his family”. That was a dumb decision..
