Saul was at one point an exciting fighter to watch, and then he become Canelo. The only reason to watch any of his fights these days is to hope beyond hope that some rando trash can he's decided to fight lands a Hail Mary and humbles him. It's why the Bivol fight was so satisfying, seeing him get absolutely and effectively outworked.
Quite frankly, I no longer care if he ever fights Benavidez. Canelo is aging, greedy, and lacks true fighting spirit. Benavidez, while still exciting and willing to do what it takes, has lost some of his shine with that Gvozdyk sparring session. I'd probably cave and still pay to see it, but no way in hell will I pay for anything else coming from Canelo's Showcase O' No Hopers.Comment

What's so wrong with Canelo Alvarez giving us boxing fans the fights that we are willing to pay him to see? Historically, that's what prizefighters like Sugar Ray Leonard used to do all the time.
They assume the most risk for the most amount of money. After a damn near 20 year career; At the very least he owes the boxing public a minimum of one fan appreciation fight who've supported him for his entire career.
What a very mean and selfish S.O.B. he is? Which is why he would never be remembered as one of the all-time Mexican great fighters like Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr and Salvador Sanchez.Comment

Strongly disagree. As long as both fighters stay active the fight still possible imo, Canelo may be 6 years older but he doubles or triples Bennys experience fighting at the highest level, lets not even begin with each fighter style, you know damn well Canelo struggles with Elite Movers( Floyd-Bivol) not so much with flatfooted pressure punchers like Benny. Even with difference in size and age its huge step up for Benavides more than it is for the ginger. As for the crazy money demand, even Benavidez promoter said isn't that crazy figure to reach and with Turki The Dictator now in the scene everything is possible.
Btw, I wouldn't call that Bivol offer a 'lowball' considering it was his highest purse ever back then. Plus you forgot the fact Bivol wanted 168 undisputed not running it back at 175 like Canelo originally wanted. Now, all you have to do is convince Canelo of all that drivel, because he seems to doubt it. Turki has expressed that Alvarez is asking the world to fight Benavidez. Just because he's rich doesn't mean that he'll bow to Canelo's will.
And the first fight vs Canelo made Bivol more money than he'd made before. The offer for the second fight was the same. Now, given that Bivol defeated Alvarez, why would he accept the same purse for the rematch? Saul knew that Dimitru would be insulted by that offer and decline it, and when he offered to fight him @ 168, Cinnamon would have none of it.Comment

The hilarious thing is hearing Canelo's nut huggers make excuses for him not fighting Benavidez, like referring to losing his title on the scale and his drug use or saying he needs to fight Morrell to prove his worth. Then there's Alvarez himself, saying David doesn't bring anything but 25lbs. And what exactly does noob Berlanga bring? The truth is that Benavidez brings one hell of a difficult fight to Canelo and possibly defeats him. Berlanga brings inexperience and a sure victory for Canelo.

Not saying you are wrong but some people like money. You can’t judge a pro athlete for choosing money over “legacy”. If you knew any pro athletes personally you would understand this.Comment
