Great Post
I dub thee "The Sanctioning Body Watch".
For 60 years, and most egregiously for the last 50, the ever growing glut of boxing "(title) sanctioning bodies" have served as for-profit companies that proudly serve as the legacy of the romanticized Frank "Blinky" Palermo / Frankie Carbo flimflam corruption in an international sport devoid of any federal government backed private authority.
The sport itself is GREAT. No biting, kicking, joint bending, ball hitting, ground grapping, small weapons or choking to mimick an assault on the street, and no shortcuts to victory as some of history’s less important combat sports have featured.
Fans have flocked to boxing from every corner of the world for centuries, because its a great sport!
But the business/administrative side of the sport has been a shambles since the days of Figg's Amphitheatre at Oxford Road.
During the early to mid 1980's, many journalists joined together opposing the continued tolerance of what we termed "Los Bandidos", but the construct survived as older boxing scribes died off, and here we are today, a sport still shooting itself in the foot at every opportunity.
I exhaust myself just talking about the miscarriage only just this much.
Keep up the good work.

I love boxing like everyone on this site; but let’s face it, the sport is a joke. It’s hopelessly corrupt, lacks meaningful regulation, and the scoring system is completely unreliable. And it doesn’t end there. These rankings are supposed to be a surprise? (BTW, Mike Perez is a great guy.)

But a #5 ranking for Mike Perez, when he hasn't even fought in nearly 3 years? That's kinda wacko.

I would laugh, but I am over 50 and been a boxing fan long enough that these sanctioning bodies just are not funny anymore. But until boxers start ignoring the belts, this will continue. Since every boxer rightly wants to be a champion, this is the normal.
