I cant imagine how dumb and impressionable you'd need to be to somehow suddenly like Saudi Arabia and want to go there because of a few sporting events. If anything i'd expect it to make people resent the Saudis more for stealing a bunch of stuff that they have zero cultural connection to.DClefthook likes this.

As a red blooded American, spoiled for decades by a heavyweight division comprised of Americans from every region and background, peppered with an occasional Chuvalo, Bonavena, Bugner or Coetzee; I am downright envious of the flood of good big men comming out of the mother county this century. Lennox Lewis, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Frank Bruno, Daniel Dubois, Dillian Whyte, Joe Joyce, David Haye, Derrick Chisora, Fabio Wardley, Hughie Fury, Frazer Clarke, David Price, Herbie Hide, Danny Williams, Gary Mason, Audley Harrison, Sam Sixton(sp), Martin Rogan, Moses Itauma, Nathan Gorman, Matt Skelton, etc.
And they just keep coming.
I wish more big, athletic Americans would forgo their trade apprenticeship and give superstardome a shot!
At the moment, aside from Richard Torrez Jr and Sonny Conto, we've got Nothing!!!!
Gotta give it up for the British.

By the time they decided to do PPV with Canelo it was to late because they sub base in America was almost non existent. Spence is almost done. But Tank can definitely sell without Ryan but Ryan cannot sell without Tank. That's what the kids call BIG FACTS!!

Right!
Lets not overlook the very recent, extensive Harris Poll (the most prestigious polling company in the world), which has informed us that boxing now ranks as the fourth most-popular sport in the United States, behind only football, baseball, and basketball. And ahead of MMA. Ahead of ice hockey. Ahead of soccer. Ahead of tennis. Ahead of golf. That's the last word when it comes to how well boxing is doing in the United States.
The international poll shows boxing in a similar position, surrounded by a different set of competing sports; showing very clearly why the Saudis want in.
These are all good things, for the boxing community.
Made still more amazing that boxing thrives, though it has NO central governing and marketing authority like FIFA, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, UFC, World Rugby, ATP, USGA/PGA, ICC, etc.
The whole world knows boxing. We can only imagine the untapped potential of its global market were it to ever be marketed like team sports as a traditional product, instead of by cut throat rival promotional companies.
It is only boxing's 'purity of rules', ascetic appeal and peerless history that makes it important, and NOT (Ha!) It's brilliant marketing structure.
The participation of Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Saud and the House of Saud are welcome as champions of the ancient sport - Make no mistake.
