i think it might be more to do with her being irish, all the NY irish came to support her in NY V's hometown girl serrano who had all the rican support, thats what made it a good night for the ladies in the sport

You know... i taught kids in school that could not put sentences together. Mayweather himself cannot read properly to many. Shields was raised a certain way. That G h e tto trash is spoken and used in many areas of Murica, that is just a reality. I mean should Shields learn the King's Engrish to make sure she does not offend some of her fans? Should she be less competative, talk less smack? maybe lose a few fights just because?

Shields does do some things, I get it, but people are really tough on her lol. mayorga, one of my favorite fighters ever, primarily because of his trash talk was horrible to his opponents! Nobody said he belonged back in a South American G h e tto. Fighters are often raised up in environments where people do not talk nice...

As always, some people take the hate too far. IMO, she doesn't deserve *hate* at all. Maybe she doesn't deserve as much respect as she thinks she does, but IMO if someone is hating, 99.9% of the time it's people who haven't accomplished anything trying to feel better by putting down someone who did. But that's how people are behind their keyboards. People say stuff online that they'd never say to our faces. They wouldn't say it to Shields' face either. For the record, I don't like self-aggrandizement. It's one of the reasons I'm not a fan of Tyson Fury. But good on them for, literally, fighting for their dreams.

It's called "misogynoir", the hate of a Black woman.

She's a Black woman who won't shut up. It really is that simple.

She's done everything she said she would and then some, but because she talks about herself the same way Ali, Floyd, Tyson Fury, Conor McGregor, and countless male athletes talk about themselves, they hate & look for anything to discredit her legacy.

I think Shield's is just a little ****y for someone without a ****- she needs a humble lesson and so does Shakur, I respect her accomplishments and all but its a little bit to ****y, you can go about things with honor and class

Wow! Do you share the same sentiments about John McEnroe? John had ten times the fights Serena had AND cursed out everyone at every tournament he was in.
So really, would you call him a “hood rat” which we all know to be a euphemism for black people?

Lastly, Serena was booed at Indian Wells in 2001 when she was 19 years old.
The linesman incident happened in 2009. There was a gap of 8 years between 2001 and 2009, did you at any point in those 8 years respect her?

John is white so he gets a pass.

Not to be sidetracked here, I'll sum it up: Serena behaves aggresively and looks unusually muscular for a natural athlete. And when someone points it out, she plays victim or bullies that person. That's about it.

That's 167 total fighters from light middleweight to heavyweight. There's levels to the lack of depth in women's boxing. We're talking literal orders of magnitude here. When we start talking about men's boxing, since she's declared that her accomplishments are equivalent to those of the men who have accomplished the same thing, it's even more ridiculous. It's not her fault that there's so little competition, but it IS her fault if she's going to be disrespectful of other fighters.
Yeah I agree it's awful, and comparing herself to the mens is a terrible take – but you only have to watch the fights to see she's pretty much the only female fighter who isn't rock 'em sock 'em. Can set traps, put together smooth combinations, walk them onto counters, has actual footwork.

I'm not saying she's Ali but look at the state of the Taylor / Serrano fights. They're supposed to be P4P, it's shockingly bad.
