Oscar was a zombie on fight night and had to have in IV after the weigh in. You could see the marks on his arm during the pre fight instructions. People said Arum was cashing out Pac but he ended up retiring Oscar instead.

manny was just at 130, had just went to 135 for a single fight and this fight was under a year since he was at 130. then DLH hadnt made 147 in 7 years. nobody knew what to expect, manny jumping 3 classes in a year or DLH not draining to 147 in 7 years what would happen. it was basically a freak show fight, like today if crawford fought a light heavy at 168 basically. or even canelo at 160. and you got a freak show result, a comple domination of skeleton DLH

thinking back i remember de la hoya bouncing on his feet before the fight telling people hes not felt this light and bouncy for years, i feel light on my feet, yeah rite, more like light headed & then i think freddy roach saw the IV marks on his arms pre fight & said in his mind gleefully yeah we have got him, thought that was a bit crass of him, thats not how u should win big fights

This will sound like sour g****s excuses to some, but its the plain truth. ODLH was still a bigger star than Pacquiao so he had no good reason to compromise his fight readiness by fighting at WW, much less coming in at 145lbs. I recall being angry that De La Hoya even accepted the fight, but I was absolutely mortified watching the shell of De La Hoya lose so pathetically to a natural featherweight.
