I remember people here and in the media saying how irresponsible it was for Arum to put Pacquaio in the ring with Oscar and how DLH could damage Pac’s career.

Oscar was a zombie on fight night and had to have in IV after the weigh in. You could see the marks on his arm during the pre fight instructions. People said Arum was cashing out Pac but he ended up retiring Oscar instead.

I recall reading an interview with Vinny Paz. In it, he mentioned how fans aren’t aware how many times a fighter steps into the ring sick, injured, etc. Very often these guys show up in much less-than-ideal condition. But the show must go on. This is one of the reasons why the true greats, the ones that remain on top for years, are so impressive: they, too, suffer from the same ailments. Say what you will about Mayweather, for instance; but you can rest assured that in all those fights, over the span of all those years, Floyd must have fought ill, hurt, etc., sometime. No one gives credit for that.
