My own take is what I call the "Brooklyn Dodgers syndrome" During the 40's the dodgers were lovable losers in the National league. There was never any pressure on them to win, unlike the Yankees. Naturally they managed to upset a few teams who needed a win to play for the pennant. I mean with nothing on the line, sometimes it is easy to play well.

The analogy with Ryan being that he was not expected to win, or, even do much. This allowed him to come into the fight with no real pressure. I believe this helped him psychologically quite a bit. One thing leads to another: He starts out no pressure and wings his hook... once he connects? He does not have the concern that Haney can take him out with one punch... Naturally he grows more and more confident.
Maybe from an analytical standpoint, we may be able to see whether the anabolic SARM Ryan took gave him a definite advantage over Devin, vs a rematch on a level playing field. But from a common-sense standpoint, we can assume that Ryan didn't risk stifling his career by taking a banned PED that has little to no effect. That would make him an even bigger idiot than he already is.

I thought he promised to be gone for a year. Now he's acting like he's gifting us with an early return?

Devin Haney vs Teofimo Lopez would be perfect. It would be for a title unification bout. Then on the undercard have Liam Paro vs Jose “El Rayo” Valenzuela.

Then the winners of these bouts should fight for undisputed. With your “Excellency” keen match making ability and deep pockets.

He can make this 140 lbs tournament happen as soon as possible.

Stay away decently skilled punchers and he'll be alright.

Haney isn’t delusional sir. He doesn’t drink, smoke, have mental breakdowns or do drugs as most of his peers and contemporaries do in the sport of boxing.
