Berlanga’s 23rd fight will be a more legit opponent than Benavidez has ever faced, but that’s only because he happened to land the fight by sheer divine intervention. We’d be saying the same thing if Benavidez had been picked. He just hasn’t…or won’t Who the hell really knows at this point?

Is there a scenario where Berlanga would’ve beaten Plant? Sure, maaaaaaaaaaybe. Same with Lemieux…maaaaaaaaaaaaybe. I’d still favor both Plant and Lemieux (back then) to beat Berlanga.

I don’t think he would’ve beaten Andrade either, though. Berlanga’s been super lukewarm lately and he just doesn’t convince me.

We’ll have to agree to disagree, though.

Can’t wait to be on these boards if the fight ever gets made. There’s gonna’ be so much ****-talking…absolutely off the charts. Lol

Because ginger has no balls. Stop with the deflection ain't about berlanga neither benavidez, is about canelo choosing g the weakest fighters he could find.

I’ll hold hands with you and we can hate Canelo together…and once the Berlanga fight is over with we’ll go back to our separate ways; you still being enormously outraged about the lack of Benavidez/Canelo and me being… pretty fed up from hearing the public saying how Benavidez is going to be Canelo’s boogeyman and take his thunder.

Whatever Canelo has between his legs is irrelevant. His name could be Saulita Alvarez for all I care and he’d counter that body en route to a victory over Benavidez.

How small our memories tend to be. This is the same Canelo that fought at 155 for years to drag out the GGG fight.

I mean its obvious there is concern from team Canelo. They said David only brings an extra 25lbs, so without saying it directly, the weight is definitely concerning to them.

            Canelo is up there

But I've never seen anyone prefer to beat up a girl and go to prison, than to fight a particular person in the ring instead

canelo fought a "cherry pick" that didn't end as planned

no way does he ever fight anyone who stands a chance now.

it's either 100% win for canelo, or he isn't doing it

You know what? We can hold hands. I think canelo has a better chance of beating benavidez than the other way around, still he has to get in the ring to do it. What I'm fed up with is the unwillingness to defend his belts against worthy opponents, and clogging the division. The corruption is for everyone to see and nothing happens. Vacate, that's the honorable thing to do.

I wholeheartedly agree. I don’t think whether he fights Benavidez or not at this point has any significant impact on his legacy anymore. It’s done. My stance has always been if anybody wants to criticize Canelo for not fighting Benavidez because it will “tarnish” his legacy…puh-lease.

If they want to criticize Canelo for holding to all (or most of) the belts without facing Benavidez, then by all means. But I personally think more of the onus is on the sanctioning bodies to strong arm Canelo and force the Benavidez fight…call his bluff.

There was an interesting take Chris Algieri had on this exact situation we’re discussing, where he argued that if HE was in Canelo’s shoes, he could DROP the belts and fight Benavidez (or anybody for that matter) and make more money without the cumulative sanctioning fees associated with having to defend a belt (or the three in his possession as of August 15).

The selection of Berlanga has irritated me to absolutely no end. Berlanga comes off to me as a fake tough guy who drinks his own kool-aid.

I’m going to stop typing here before I just go on a tirade over how much bull**** of a PPV match this is.

At what point would their fight have made sense, prime for prime ?

Also, and again, no one mentions GGG's age unless it's vs Nelo

Vanes, Roll, Murata, Shortychenko and Kamil somehow all fought a better version of GGG than Nelo did ?!?!!?
Well duh, a P4P fighter's age is going to matter more against a fellow P4P fignter moreso than it did against others, although I do think GGGs age was brought up against Brook & Jacobs as well, which is why Canelo finally fought him because we finally started seeing some slippage in those fights.

If you are scare, that is fear, doesn't matter why.
