No announcement yet.
Have you ever seen a fighter more terrified of another before?

This is like when Chris Tucker gets physically threatened by the black guy in the Chinese get-up in Rush Hour 2.
”We’d love to see that. Wouldn’t we love to see that, Jackie?”
How are you going to spin it when Benavidez gets beaten?

He has the resume for it
Remember when Edison Miranda looked like the upcoming boogeyman of 160 and ran into The Ghost?
Or when Nicholas Walters took out Donaire and looked like THE guy and then ran into Loma?
Or when fans saw Jarrett Hurd coming up and overwhelming opponents with his engine swearing he was an African American version of Antonio Margarito before realizing there’s holes in the armor?
They’re in love with power.
I see Benavidez getting too much into his head (and being too limited in his arsenal) that it’ll work against him and he won’t be able to perform well enough to beat Canelo. I just can’t.Last edited by TintaBoricua; 08-22-2024, 11:46 PM.BodyBagz likes this.

One Time/Sometime/Part Time had brief success
If I were Nelo, I wouldn't let trash talk dictate who I fought.
In fact, I'd treat all loudmouths like May did Khan.
Keep them hanging on for that big payday that never was going to come
Nelo vs Benny could go 1 of 2 ways -
Nelo humbles him
Or
Benny catches Nelo in retirement mode and wins a UD (been in the game since 15. 65 fights later, maybe he has lost a step or that hunger)
Nelo fought Biv to a UDL (partially due to Nelo not having a great night at the office)
Ended Benny's best win, Plant
Fought and beat Kov, ( > DooDoo)
Fought and beat Mungy ( > LeMeh)
Fought and beat Ryder ( +/- Gvoz)
Fought and beat BHS ( > everyone Benny fought)
And somehow, he's afraid of Benny

You could also add Tavoris Cloud in there as a power puncher that didn’t really do much even though HBO and Don King were pushing him.
Kelly Pavlik I probably wouldn’t put him in the category. He at least had a couple of big wins over Jermaine Taylor…though it seems for the most part punchers like these get whitewashed in their first loss or severely outpointed. Pavlik was taken to school by an ancient Hopkins and then befuddled big time by Sergio Martinez.

People are acting like David Benavidez is some sort of Mike Tyson type fighter 'The reality is? His offense and agression is nowhere near the level of Mike Tyson'.
As I have stated in my previous posts, fighters like David Benavidez have existed in all boxing era's 'Especially in this modern era'.
Each boxing era always consist of those type of fighters, who are aggressive and ingratiate themselves with the raw competitive instincts of people in society or boxing community. There is a attraction, and fascination with competitive violence. And whatever fighters mold their game around maximum aggression and violence, they are always going to have a certain level of popularity and people will over exaggerate their abilities'.
Note: The issue David Benavidez has, is that? Just being aggressive, or relying upon being the big man on fight night 'Has historically not been enough, to become a genuine all-time great fighter. Or even a elite level fighter in all boxing era's'.
There was more than just aggression with Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Rocky Marciano, Nigel Benn, Roberto Duran, Henry Armstrong, Jack Dempsey, Joe Frazier 'Is there that more with David Benavidez? I have not witnessed or observed a high level of sophistication with his agression or offense to date'.
Benavidez is for sure a World level fighter, but his entire game heavily relies upon his agression 'And being the big man on fight night. Benavidez outside of those attributes, in my opinion? Would really find it difficult in many past boxing era's, to be a top level fighter. Especially in the era's, when boxing was using the same day weigh in rule'.
Skill for skill David Benavidez is not a Elite level fighter 'Where as we know, that Canelo Alvarez does have certain aspects of his game which are Elite level. Even still at this stage of his career, and definitively at his peak'.
I have always been adamant that David Benavidez vs a Canelo Alvarez in solid form 'Benavidez has the ability to make the fight competitive, but not enough ability in the specific area's to actually win rounds consistently vs Canelo Alvarez'.
To conclude: Anybody that knows boxing, and understands how styles can effect the competition. They will be aware right now, that the match up between David Benavidez vs Canelo Alvarez 'Is stylistically a fight straight up Canelo Alvarez street. A solid in condition Canelo Alvarez in my opinion, would just have too much ability to win rounds consistently while displaying a by far superior defense.
David Benavides is a solid enough fighter, the match up between Benavidez and Alvarez is mega fight 'But stylistically on the real, it is not the most formidable challenge for Canelo Alvarez when he is in solid form' etc.
