That's more on what the the state of boxing is at, than the "best" resume, he has nothing but old men and domestic level fighters, the two or three world class fighters he fought, beat his @$$ soundly, including two old men past their prime. He is a fraud and that's not a resume.
With all that said there really is no excuse for Canelo ducking Benavidez while he held onto the WBC belt. Say what you want about about other fighters but I can't think of a time when any of them ducked their mandatory for 3 years and held onto their belts.
I can agree with that.
The Berlanga selection just broke the camel’s back for me personally.
The way Canelo completely eradicates his haters is by eradicating the new wave of fighters coming up before they fully blossom (though Berlanga peaked a long time ago seemingly), takes out Mbilli (who doesn’t move the needle for me personally either), and then leaves the Benavidez fight for last and beats him.
But who the hell knows how long Canelo is going to stick around?
I maintain faith that the fight WILL eventually materialize so everyone can just squash the beef and put this to rest. Though to be honest we are WAY past the point of even the most pessimistic predictions of it materializing. So much so that Canelo detractors are going to say Benavidez was drained when it finally happens. Because I have a sneaking su****ion that’s what’s gonna’ happen. Canelo is going to yank him down and Benavidez is going to take the fight because why not? He’s got nothing to lose.
And if Benavidez beats Canelo, I’ll eat crow, as I’ve always done whenever I’m wrong.
I remember back in 2011 on the Pacquiao/Mosley undercard Wilfredo Vasquez, Jr. was an undefeated Puerto Rican fighter facing off of against the Mexican veteran Jorge Arce. I put up a betting thread saying that there was no way in Vasquez would take his first loss to a Mexican. And that if he did, I’d change my avatar to a photo of Ricky Martin at the beach wearing a rainbow colored thong. Lo and behold, Arce pulled a rabbit out of his ass in the 12th and stopped Vasquez. I held that L. I respect Mexican fighters. They are more capable in the clutch than Puerto Rican fighters generally are.
Anyway, getting back to the topic, no way Canelo loses to Benavidez…I’ll switch up my avatar again if he does.
There’s so much polarization in this thread of Canelo being a so-called fraud or undeserving of praise, ya’ll haven’t been watching boxing long enough to notice fighters like Jeff Lacy who got overblown as the next big American cheese and got ABSOLUTELY toyed with by Calzaghe, or the sheer adoration, protection, and unapologetic catering they rolled out for Chavez, Jr. en route to getting straight embarrassed by Martinez. These were examples of fighters getting their flowers waaaaaaaaaay before they should’ve. Samuel Peters, Edison Miranda, Adrien Broner…all imploding before they reached their perceived potential.
If Canelo is a fraud, then damn…I guess the aforementioned fighters are just maggots, I suppose?
Canelo has Baldomir, Alfonso Gomez, Mosley, Josesito Lopez, Cotto, Trout, Lara, Angulo, Kirkland, Jacobs, Khan, a draw and two wins over Golovkin, Jacobs, the Smith bros, Kovalev, Plant, BJ Saunders, Ryder, and Munguia.
With his only losses coming to Mayweather Jr. and Dmitry Bivol.
Bagz has a point…Canelo has the most dense resume right now out of ANY active fighter. Anybody can nitpick all they want but that’s expected when he’s been fighting so many names for such a long time. It’s bound to happen.
Zab Judah is considered a great fighter who fought a who’s who of his generation’s welterweights. He retired with somewhere around 10-11 losses. You hardly hear people dissecting and downplaying his wins.
And then you’ll have someone like Mayweather (who beat Judah and several hall of famers) and he gets absolutely torn apart, dissected and downplayed by a towering amount of critics.
The bigger you are, the bigger the target.
I’m telling ya’ll, the goal post is going to get moved by a lot of people here when it happens.
“Benavidez was drained/He wasn’t all that to begin with/Canelo was roided up/If Canelo wasn’t so skilled Benavidez would’ve beaten him, etc.”
And…if the fight never comes to fruition, it hardly matters. Benavidez doesn’t convince me he brings anything to the table that Canelo hasn’t seen before. At this point I actually want to see it more because a lot of eyes are going to be watching and there will be a lot of bragging rights when the dust clears whatever happens.
If it happens, it happens.
If not, meh.
Option select…shoryuken FADC into Ultra. That’s a wrap.

BTW, Nelo still has the best resume of all active fighters
Maidana gave Floyd a great fight. He didn't win, but it was a closer fight
And of course "Nelo" has the best resume.
The "cash cow" of boxing always has the best resume because he can fight whoever he wants, when he wants, so he can choose to fight name fighters on their terms & rig the process in their favor.

;
Considering Canelo is demanding 200m to fight him, which is about 4x more than he's ever been paid before, Its safe to assume, he has convinced Canelo though. lol. He was prepared to fight GGG three times but won't fight Benavidez even once. Says it all. You are still in denial, its sad.

I don’t know if I’ve ever heard your take on them. Who do you see winning if the fight ever happens?
Are you strictly upset about Canelo holding to the belts without fighting Benavidez (which is understandable)? Or do you just want him to get beaten and think Benavidez is the guy for the job? Cause I don’t see it.
Cause if you want Canelo to get beaten again, Bivol is the guy you should be rooting for. Canelo gets smoked by Bivol again if it happens.

1) Maidana's performance, while admirable, was pure ineffective aggression. His options were extremely limited. Haters say he was robbed in the 1st fight
2) OK, then.
3) I find it odd how an unproven fighter, let's use Benny as an example, can have a sub par resume but more respect
No one would give Nelo respect if he had Benny's resume.
