I think Bud gets short changed because of the opposition he fought. Or didn't fight. But this is the boxing world now. A ga-zillion belts with fights people really want not being made. Not that this didn't happen before but it's the norm now. Could Bud have beaten Hearns or Hagler? I think he could have beaten Hearns by outboxing him and wearing him down. Tommy didn't have a great chin and a couple good shots and he was out for the night. Hagler was just a beast in any era. Walking through people, getting drilled but giving more shots than receiving. I thought Bud eked out a decision and that Madrimov was very good. I'd like to see him in another marquee fight soon.Comment

lol some people here are grasping at straws trying to discredit Crawford. Haters will always be hatersComment

I'm not saying Bud stops Canelo. Mainly because as overhyped as Canelo's career is, his chin is all time. But go back and watch Canelo's last few fights. He isn't stopping guys anymore, he doesn't take any big risks that could get him hurt, for years now.
That is where Bud has the advantage, along with height and reach. He can outbox Canelo and win a UD. He is just a better, more complete fighter. Madrimov and his team fought specifically to take away Bud's rhythym. Canelo at this point is not going to maintain that for an entire fight. Canelo has a three or four round window to jump on Bud and hurt him. It could happen.
But once Bud weathers that storm, Canelo gases like he always does and lays back to start picking his spots. Bud would take advantage of that.
Just saying if the fight does happen, all these people saying Canelo is mini hulk who will tear through Bud (who will also weigh 168) are wrong IMO.
Madrimov had a great gameplan. He is young and like many of the fighters in that area, he is tough as nails and a thinker in the ring, very talented. Huge amateur career. The hate brigade act like he is a chump.
The bias is obvious and silly.Comment

interesting
Bud yesterday was Superman and this generations SRR & up there with all the greats
Spence was a really tough opponent who elevated bud to those levels
Madrimov was some unknown might be decent guy
Now
Bud is over rate, spence was a hopeless zombie and madrimov was better than expected

I'm not saying the right guy didn't win, but the FIX was IN
Rounds 1-3
Only 1 judge (Weisfeld) gave Madrimov the 3rd round. That's 1 out of 9 slots. No one gave Madrimov the 1st round despite landing more. Judges Villarreal & Roussell did what Weisfeld did for Canelo-Bivol and gave the A side the first 3 rounds
Rounds 4-5
Villarreal & Roussell made it obvious giving Bud all 3 first rounds, so they both gave the 4th to Madrimov when Bud won that round (Weisfeld got it right). All 3 got the 5th right and gave it to Madrimov
Rounds 6-8
Madrimov won all 3 of these rounds, but only got credit for 2 on 2 scorecards, and 1 on the 3rd
Rounds 9-10
Bud won round 9 and seemed to edge 10 (swing round). Villarreal gave both to Bud, Roussell gave both to Madrimov, and Weisfeld split them
Rounds 11-12
All 3 judges scored for Bud
story of the numbers:
Bud was never in any real danger of losing this fight by decision. For a fight THIS neck-and-neck, Bud was only DOWN on 1 SCORECARD for only 1 ROUND. That's CRAZY. According to the cards, at NO point was Madrimov ever winning the fight
Bud ought to give Madrimov the rematch Mayweather-style, but time is not on his side, and he can't risk losing the chance to get Fundora's titlesComment

Not a great fight after waiting for what seemed like hours for groveling boxing geezers to kiss His Excellency’s ass — “All us guys in Vegas sure do hope you like this turd-shaped trophy, Mr. Sheiky!” — and then more time on Tupperware drawings, and I’m not even gonna touch Eminem’s midlife crisis.
Madrimov’s got more funky oscillating in him than Tyson Fury exploring his inner gypsy on a vibrating motel bed. If feinting was scored, he won by a mile.
But he confused and troubled Crawford more than beat him. What he really showed is Bud’s ceiling: scraping your scalp, champ.
I’m a Bud fan since 135 but either he fights Boots or it’s goodnight. The last thing we want to see in boxing careers is too much weight making thoughtful guys way more thoughtful — and Bud’s always been a thinking man. It’s high IQ stuff, but at a certain point it’s too compromised, too wooden, too risky and too dull. No wonder Andre Ward was bouncing off the walls in delight after four rounds of this stuff, explaining to the DAZN audience how truly great it was nothing was happening. Cut to: Shakur at ringside, smiling his fool head off.Comment

Ok now can the illogical and silly comparisons or fantasy matchups of Crawford vs Hearnd or Leonard come to a full stop ✋?? Madrimov was Crawfords toughest fight and had he win the 11th round, he would have at least gotten a draw. Madrimov had all of 11 fights to his ledger and he made Crawford look a lot less like Superman than any opponent Bud has ever faced. Now imagine a legend and well documented power hitter like Hearns putting those feints on Crawford and constantly putting that electric jab in Buds face, and landing HIS right hand the way Madrimov was landing his own with regularity??Or Leonard who had the best legs and FOOTWORK in the business along with killer speed, nasty hard combination punching and a top tier IQ?? My counsel to Crawford cheer leaders is to drop a thousand and come back down to earth with this best of all times stuff and focus more on the SPORT and Not let idolatry take you to weird places.Last edited by Spartacus26; 08-04-2024, 01:51 PM.Comment
