The way I remember it, that was Shields. Morrell has ten pro fights; he’s not calling his own shots. Makes a lot more sense for Benny to be avoiding the Cuban, as Benadivez has been building his name over a much longer timeframe. I saw a video on YouTube where the Mexican Monster was asked about Morrell. I don’t recall the details, but my general vibe was that he’s in no hurry for that meeting.

That’s the problem. He should be in the conversation, especially more than someone like Berlanga. And we all know he’s better than anyone canelo has fought at 168. Canelo entered the division because it was low hanging fruit. The 2 real threats in that division have been benavidez and Morrell and both are bigger threats than a 40 yr old ggg, a C level Ryder, a jmw charlo, a c level munguia and a D level berlanga.

Honestly if I was Benny I too wouldn’t be looking forward to a fight with the other David
And yes it was Shields who came out with the comment of no fight but we all know the bottom line is the fighter
The same way if Reynosa says fight Benny but Canelo doesn't want , the fight is off

Look, Morrell seems to have skills that could make him a top contender at 168-175.

i just wonder why Morrell, who had two Al Haymon lap dogs, DeCubas Sr and DeCubas Jr on his team, only has 10 fights in 5 years, when as Haymon’s lap dogs they could have pretty much made any fight they wanted.

I’m just saying, that makes me think what’s going on that we don’t really know about Morrell?

Yes, Morrell is correct that Canelo has avoided Benevidez and instead fought questionable opponents. For Canelo to say that certain fighters are not at his level, how the fook is Berlanga? Lately, Canelo has proven himself to be quite a hypocrite.

He’s saying what everyone is saying. Every boxing analyst, pro boxer and guys that follow boxing are saying the same thing.
CANELO IS DUCKING BENAVIDEZ! I’m saying that as a Canelo fans. Dude is 34 years old and has been ducking Benavidez since he was 32 years old.

Who do you expect for him to have fought by now? Seems to me, David’s already fought some pretty decent opposition as it is. I’m not sure who’s ducking whom with regards to Morrell-Benavidez, but it’s no secret Canelo avoided the Mexican Monster. Everyone knows it. How’s Morrell tearing Alvarez down? Canelo says Benny isn’t in his league, yet he gives a shot to Berfookinglanga. I’d say the Cuban is on point with respect to Alvarez.
He said Canelo left 2 Cubans at 168 .Apparently he means himself and Scull.I think that is a ridiculous statement or no ?

I don’t disagree. But Morrell, like all fighters, has to promote his interests. He has to make it like he’s the joint, and Canelo should be fighting him. Scull is another matter. I imagine David just threw him in as a countryman. All that said, I think we can all agree that Alvarez-Morrell sounds better than Alvarez-Berlanga by a mile.

I’ve been sh/tting on Canelo for this opponent, and have already said i’m not buying the PPV, or even streaming it. I’ll catch a highlight of the KO if it happens, or just highlights of the decision.

With that said, every boxer does this once they get to the top level. Picking the easiest money fights. I don’t like the fight, and yes Canelo is absolutely, 100% ducking Benavidez. But he paid his dues already. Canelo already fought the guys that his critics and the media said he needed to fight.

Pretty much every fighter, no matter how great they were, have someone, or multiple fighters, that they didn’t fight and critics wanted to see them fight.

It looks like at this point, Benavidez will be that guy. But look at how Benavidez thinks he’s too famous to fight Morrell, and feels like it supposedly means nothing. Benavidez not fighting Morrell is way worse than Canelo not fighting Benavidez. Mainly because Canelo already fought a bunch of boogey men that fans said he would never fight. Benavidez has yet to have 1. His chance is Morrell Jr, just like a Canelo fought GGG, Lara, Trout.
