  • Comments Thread For: Can Errol Spence Jr. still fight at his fearless, aggressive best?

In Thursday's episode of ProBox TV's "Deep Waters," analyst Shawn Porter speculated about whether Spence, now 34, still has the heat-seeking fearlessness he demonstrated in his prime.

He fought bud a p4p fighter diminished, he'd had lost had been healthy, spending years coming down from 180 kind of does that to you

Errol was a beast, but he's done. Someone pointed out earlier that fighters aren't the same when they lose to Bud.
There's no way Errol suffering his first defeat (a KO at that), out the gym for a year with no trainer, moving up in weight (150 - f***ing - 4 aka the GAUNTLET) is anywhere resembling the fighter who helped clear 147

Erroll thought he was the best. He thought he could beat anyone.

Now he knows he's not even close.

He'll never be the same unfortunately.

Spence has had a great career. He's made his money, former unified world champion and secured his legacy in the sport. I'd like to see him compete again, but only if he's still at least the Spence who beat Ugas. Very entertaining style, like Porter said, in the wheel house looking to break guys down. I think he'll look a lot better at 54' as long as he's not coming down from LHW.

Short answer is no. He had a good career. Boxing is a demanding sport on your body, Spence exacerbated that with the vehicle accidents, weight fluctuations, and hard living. He took a hellacious beating at the hands of Bud that would leave most fighters damaged physically and mentally.

I think Errol is fully aware of his issues (difference after the accident) and the beating he took from Crawford. Errol has been presented with a opportunity and he will do his best to regain the title (rematch with possibility Crawford X3 Weight Undisputed)

Spence should stay retired, become a trainer, hang out with family, etc.
