No not at all. The only one you could say didn't belong there was Winky. Calzaghe was at 168 his entire career and was planning on going to LHW with or without hopkins and proved that was his natural weight class at that point of his life and career against hopkins and further proved it against Jones.

Pavlik was a 4-1 favorite and he took the fight because it was the most money for him at the time and of course Pavlik wanted that HOF name on his resume. You can fault bhop there as everyone and their mama thought hopkins was in for a whoopin. Plus, hopkins had to go down 5 pounds in weight whereas pavlik had to go 4 pounds up from his previous fight against Taylor. In reality, they are the exact same size (both large middleweights).

But this is something that Hopkins haters (And trust me, he's got plenty of them) point out. I don't know if a win over Dawson would shut the critics up.
Unlikely because like you say they are haters. You'd think beating pavlik and Tarver would shut them up but there are always excuses. IF he were to beat Dawson it would be Dawson was overrated, Dawson was sick, etc etc etc. Let the haters hate, it's what they do!

But it would make me think that he is going for the glory and not just the money. And you know I am a Hopkins fan by the way.
Yeah, well he did want Adamek and/or Dawson but unfortunately the Jones **** talking, all the fan polls, etc. made this fight happen. I don't beleive Hopkins wanted it, to be honest I think he wanted Adamek more than anything to get his 3rd lineal title in as many weight classes, but HBO didn't release their budget plan for '10 in time and adamek signed to fight golota rather than wait on hopkins.

I think hopkins already proved his in it for legacy after challenging Tarver at age 40 and going up two weight classes, not to mention fighting nothing but pound 4 pound rated fighters since (well until now).

Also, people forget hopkins was a middleweight for damn near 20 years, and only went up to LHW after age 40. That's incredible in itself. But when hopkins beats someone that was at one point in time in a different weight class, they were "blown up" and discredit bhop. But no one ever says, "Tarver lost to a blown up middleweight in bernard hopkins." Why is that?

I think Hopkins has went out of his way to fight the best for the most part, but I think his resume is going to lose some shine if Paul Williams beats Kelly Pavlik impressively. That will be three more fighters that Hopkins beat that went on to lose to other elite fighters with Winky and Pavlik losing to P-Will and Tarver losing to Dawson. But B-Hop ruined em first. Right? Hopkins will need one more prime fighter to close out his career. I know he can do it. I've got faith in him.

I think your logic is kind of messed up because Hopkins beat Pavlik and Tarver when they were on top of their games, with all the belts. Tarver is just getting older and Pavlik, well he might be mentally f'd up from that loss, we'll see.

Adamek or Dawson are the only two guys I can see him fighting after jones, if he decides to continue fighting.
