For historical major world titles, these were the numbers as of earlier this year:
USA - 455
Mexico- 153
UK - 101
Japan - 82
Puerto Rico - 48
Thailand - 46
South Korea - 46
Argentina - 43
Philippines - 40
Colombia - 36
Puerto Rico isn't technically a country, but for international sports they compete as one. But for an island with a population of only 3.2 million, they're easily the most impressive on the list.
Very impressive numbers indeed for Puerto Rico!
I'm wondering, since Puerto Rico is actually part of the USA, are their 48 champs also included in the 455 US total?
Korean boxing is currently in a "dip" era where they are in the lows for talent and belts compared to their historical peak. In a way similar to Philippines right now except worse.
