Would serve him right if the WBO decided that Doheny fulfilled their mandatory requirements, as the WBO #2.

Here's the mandatory title defense history of the 122 lb division:

December 20, 2020 Leo v Fulton WBO mandatory
January 24, 2022 MJ v Rios WBA mandatory
March 22, 2022 Fulton v Roman WBC mandatory (Roman also ranked #1 with WBO)
September 18, 2022 MJ v Tapales, IBF mandatory
July 23, 2023 Fulton v Inoue (maybe WBO mandatory, as Inoue was made WBO Super champ, entitling him to the title shot).
May 6, 2024 Inoue v Nery WBC mandatory

Not sure why WBC managed to jump the rotation. But it looks like WBO or WBA should be up next, which means that if WBO DOES decide that Doheny counts, that MJ would be next. If Inoue doesn't decide to fight him in December, he'll certainly be Inoue's first ordered fight of 2025, assuming the WBA doesn't try to strip Inoue. If Inoue was WBO mandatory for Fulton, then MJ would certainly be entitled to the next title shot.

azat was already wba's mandatory and nery was wbc's when they fought. they didn't want to just wait for their shots and i applaud them for that! so if we are being honest, nery should have been a double mandatory (wba & wbc).
aleem was already wbo's #1 when ibf ordered their final eliminator. he risked his wbo shot vs. sam goodman to basically become another double mandatory but goodman won. again, i applaud both fighters for taking a tough fight and not waiting. now goodman is ibf and wbo #1.
it should have been nery then goodman because they both should have honestly been double mandatories.

i would approve a voluntary if it was against casimero, a 3 division champion in the same span as naoya and they managed to miss each other for now. doheny is a disaster. it would be ok if naoya was 25 but he's 31. this is the end of his prime. there's no time for this irrelevant fight which means NOTHING for his atg status (which is the main reason to continue boxing since he has enough money).
please somehow keep the belts until junto - bam winner (hall of famer in his prime and it would be the biggest win of the decade) moves up to 122. after that fight, naoya can retire or fight doheny type of fighters. now is not the time. i am very disappointed.

Dude inoue is fighting Dohney because they already have an agreement and the arena in Tokyo is already booked. Through this fight inoue gets to stay active. Instead of fighting only two times, inoue is fighting three times. And will have a big match in December vs goodman or mj who ever accepts the offer.

So do you want inoue to fight only in December. Because he is the only top p4p fighter who is fighting 3 times in a year, instead of fighting only 1 or 2 times like other fighters are. So not sure why you are disappointed, when we got a huge fight against nery in May, then we are getting a stay active fight against Dohney in September, and then another huge fight in December.

Please. Casimero is a joke. Should have lost to Rigo. He can't cut the ring, and just throws wild looping punches with no defensive responsibility. And he would have already been knocked out by Inoue, but he lost his belt to a sauna. Unprofessional clown. Couldn't even keep his mouth shut about Rachel Donaire so lost out on that fight. Can't be bothered to fight any of the top guys at 122 either and earn a shot. And he's got 4 losses and a draw to guys who aren't even close to being elite. It's wild that people think he's even worth fighting. If he's so good, why isn't he trying to get Goodman or MJ himself? He's managed to avoid every top level fighter in his career. The guy he won his first title from is 53 now FFS.

It WOULD have been Goodman, but Goodman ducked him basically last second to take a random extra fight because he knows he's not ready. The fault lies entirely with Goodman. Takes a real hater to act like Goodman turning down the fight is Inoue's fault.

Dude He is fighting 3 times this year. May which already happened, September, and December. This fight is a replacement for goodman since they already booked the arena and have agreement with dohney. He is the only top fighter that is fighting 3 times. While the rest only fight once or twice a year.

He would love too, and MJ has to accept the terms and offer made by inoue. But MJ and Eddie are being very difficult to work with, as both are pushing for purse bid and trying to get the fight on dazn.

Inoue-Doheny is a letdown. That being said if the alternate was fighting twice a year and just have Nery and MJ or Goodman, it won't have been that bad so I've decided to take the extra gravy.

Either way, hopefully MJ shows up to September if he is serious about fighting.

Inoue taking an easy cash grab. Not a big deal. I think the diehards just wish he kept fighting the top guys and keeps cleaning out the divisions he’s in.
