In reality, you become a star in boxing when you're in some back and forth exchanges with some of your opponents. Many celebrated fighters were in those fights. Wilder became an instant star right after his first fight with Ortiz, as an example. Being too defensive-minded will not turn you into a star.

go back on this forum and after every fight of his in the past few years and I've pointed out that his defense isn't good and it gets hit flush way too much.

Don't hurt to look a little vulnerable to lure the bigger names in

Boots defense is leaky at times because he is very offensive minded. When he boxes he actually does very well and counters very well. But will he have the discipline to fight defense if his offense starts going?

Not now in his career can he change what got him here
              It is what it is
Great fighter with a leaky defence
I just wanna see his reactions when a big puncher cracks him flush

I feel a bit off because I have not watched this fight yet lol. But this is a great point... It has to do with a fighter's ability to be coachable. I always felt like Holyfield was incredibly coachable. He applied very specific actions in the Bowe fight he won and against Tyson for the same reason.

It makes a big difference for sure.

His defence is fine, he could easily stink up the joint and box more like a Devin Haney.

I'm not saying he purposely let Avenesyan hit him but the plan was to dogwalk him. Once Avenesyan finds some success he tends to get a bit too confident. I think that is what Boots wanted to get him too open up and punch in between shots.

C’mon Billeau , you know as well as I do that at this point in his career he ain’t gonna change his style
Bowe listened to his corner and followed a game plan but didn’t change his style

That is always the questions. If he get clipped by a good puncher constantly how he will react. David was landing very good right hand counters that were flush.
