He's not nearly as exciting to watch as Triple G was.
On a side note , how is his last name pronounced ? I've heard it said a few ways. He ought to just go by Janibek . How about " Sanibel , the Kazakh Killer " , that's a much better boxing name , better than Janibek The Unpronounceable.Comment

This guy is just a slow plodding robot who gases by 8th round. He is nowhere GGG. Even. Daniel Jacobs is better than this overhyped guyComment

He's no GGG and at this point GGG career (8 years in) he'd already fought some recognizable names like Ishida, Macklin, Rosado and Stevens.
Only name that's somewhat decent one Zhanibeks resume is Brant as a former champion but even that's questionable not as a win but is so far as being "decent"...Comment

That seems like a tall task, it is true that GGG's dominant run was during a time were the division was pretty average. But at least he had someone to fight, he beat Lemieux, Rosado, Derevychenko, Murata, Jacobs and debatably Canelo in their prime.
In the other hand the current version of the middleweight division is quite subpar, where a shell of himself Erislandy Lara whose 41 years old just had earned a title by brutally stopping a Interim WBA champion in two rounds, a gatekeeper of 154 in Adames is a champion and a 19 year old Elijah Garcia was a top contender.
Unless he is willing to cut down to 154 or fight as the smaller man at 168, quite doubt he will have the success he is aiming for.
Want to see him fight Hamzah Sheeraz before doing that though.Last edited by Malvado; 07-11-2024, 02:18 PM.Comment
