You know what I think Haney should do. Accept the low ball offer because Arum is expecting him to refuse it and drop the belt. Go have the fight on ESPN and treat this like the fight of his life. It's going to be a big American audience on ESPN with all his supporters and detractors tuning in (including his biggest detractor Eddie Hearn). Haney's game plan should be all offense no defense. Stand in the pocket a la Pretty boy, afro Sugar ray Leonard, Roy Jones, GRjr and Boots Ennis. I don't care if you get hit take that shyte. If you beat the dog shyte out of him then you are back in the driver's seat. Give the middle finger to TR and DAZN and go sign with PBC where YOUR audience is. Unification with Pitbull is CHA-CHING!!! You also have other fights including a PPV with Tank. Shakur will probably sign with Al this summer and if Devin, Tank and Shakur are on the same network then that's great for boxing. Your next move is your most important Devin. Make it count son!!!

I’ve rewatched that cotto fight I can’t tell you how many times with the punches Miguel ate in that fight, if Margarito actually had loaded wraps he would’ve left him dead in the ring. I implore people to go rewatch that fight and put your feelings aside and just watch the punches that do land. I still stand by Margarito wouldve killed cotto that night if he had wraps. Cause cotto walked into almost every punch that landed; was notorious for doing a semi squat to be defensive and Margarito was the first to actually capitalize on it. Personally have been of the opinion the wraps were introduced in the mosley fight because of how nasty they were to each other. Having seen the long term effects of fighters who’ve been hit with plaster of Paris shots, wayyyy less than cotto did, I still stand by he would’ve died that night. Do I like Margarito? Hell no. Did I lose money on cotto? Yes, a good sum but even I can admit after wed hi f and watching that fight that cotto tried to get into a slugfest rather than box and got taxed for it. Margarito still a cheated but cotto fought ******ly that night.

Well that is a separate issue, it is a common assumption that Margarito's wraps were loaded, for better, or for worse. I know at the time I was convinced he cheated... but I am always willing to consider other viewpoints.

Haney rehydrated to 165 pounds for his fight against Prograis. Prograis weighed almost 157lbs on fight night. 25lbs is a lot, not everyone can do this.

Ryan may have come with 3lbs more to stay at the same weight in the fight or close to it (~165lbs), nullifying any advantage of the weight bully. You never know

We all have our favorite fighters and other ones we think of as villains. It's part of being a fan and reflects our nature as humans with personal biases, whatever they may be. But you're right, at the end of the day we SHOULD want to see the best man win (even violently by KO) to prove a larger point about the essence of the sport itself. So when our sentimental champ (insert name here _____________) gets starched and laid out cold by the schmuck, it's OK. Reality has a beauty of it's own even if our darling doesn't make it to the final bell. That's what I tell myself, anyway.

Because Tank, Shakur, PBC, Arum, Top Rank, Loma and everyone else finally have no other options but to fight the best. ESPN and Prime are our last hope for fans of American boxing. If 2025-26 fails to produce the best fights then expect out sport to be moved to the Arabian desert will it will just blow away with the sand
